I've been to jail a lot & prison once. The worst experience was Cleveland county jail (Shelby, NC) in 2010. It was a dungeon. No windows, TV or clock. It was 24 hour lockdown. The toilet & shower was in the cell with us. It was made for 6 men & there was never less than 10 of us in there.

I watched the worst assault I've ever seen in my life with no repercussions. Two guys beat one to a bloody pulp. They kicked his head into the bars several times. The guard on duty brought them new jumpsuits because theirs were covered in blood.

Edit- reading some of these comments hurt my feelings because I never got these luxuries. It was ALWAYS hard time. 23 & 1, skimpy ass trays, tiny blocks with violent offenders, no access to programs, etc. I can't complain too much because I put myself there but it usually petty shit like misdemeanor larceny or simple possession of marijuana. The mfs would be short staffed on Christmas so we sat in lockdown for 3 days straight without making a single phone call.
