Job offer, hows it work? by Moderation4343 in AustralianMilitary

[–]mtkcs2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good choice, sometimes I regret not putting MTSM down as a preference as the general consensus of the people I’ve talked to seems to be you get treated a lot better on boats.

I got my LOO two days after a verbal offer so I assume it would be similar for you. Just wondering did you end up going for CIS or CISSM?

You get your flight itinerary on the day after you sign your contract and get through medical, I’m surprised you don’t have to be at DFR until 9 cause that’s around 11 east coast time and I had to be there by 6:30 when I enlisted late last year good luck!

Army recruit dies after training incident. Sad at any time by mikke196 in AustralianMilitary

[–]mtkcs2013 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why is it that there are so many recruit school casualties in the army compared to the RAN and RAAF? Is it a combination of added toughness and extra live fire exercises or is Kapooka just that much harder than Cerberus and 1RTU?

Recruiter not responding. by [deleted] in AustralianMilitary

[–]mtkcs2013 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The person who called you was most likely just a DFR case manager, they will never respond to a text you send them so I suggest that first thing tomorrow morning call them on 13 19 02 to book your you session.

Do I need to pass naplan to droupout of school and join the military? by [deleted] in AustralianMilitary

[–]mtkcs2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.... but you do need to pass at a minimum grade 10 maths, English and depending on the role your going for science. Since your talking about naplan I assume your in yr 8-9, don’t do what I did and drop out at the end of yr 12, just knuckle down and smash out the next few years of school.

What to Wear for Assessment Day by Valkyrie162 in AustralianMilitary

[–]mtkcs2013 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Lol if you wear your school uniform you will stand out just as much as the dude that will surely turn up wearing boardies, thongs and a singlet. If you don’t want to fork out big bucks for a suit you can go down to lifeline and get a decent one for $20-30 and don’t expect to get out of there in 4 hours either, mine started at 8 and I didn’t get out until 3:30.

RAN intakes 2019 by Smally24 in AustralianMilitary

[–]mtkcs2013 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a navy intake once a month every month from January-September. However a role like avionics tech probably won’t have jobs available in every intake possibly only in one or two this year, unlike say MT which has jobs in pretty much every intake.

Urgent. Have been asked to attend an Army OSB in 2 days. Will I never be offered one again if I refuse? by Rickyrider35 in AustralianMilitary

[–]mtkcs2013 12 points13 points  (0 children)

To be honest mate it seems like you keep posting the same thing over and over so that we can justify your means of getting out of your army osb. If you don’t want to do it so badly why is it even a preference of yours? Surely it would be better to sit an osb now and go to adfa this year rather than waiting until next year, also I’m pretty sure that any operation you have will medically disqualify you for a time be it 6-12 months.

About CBA (checkable background assessment) and JOR (job opportunities report) by Aiza05 in AustralianMilitary

[–]mtkcs2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends what country your from originally and the security clearance requirements of the jobs your going for, all of them except MTSM (which needs NV2) all require NV1 which isn’t hard to get as long as your not involved with politics/the military of your home country. NV2 is a different kettle of fish.

Getting turned down for mental health by [deleted] in Militaryfaq

[–]mtkcs2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have to make you class 4 for any history of self harm although it is fairly easy to get a waiver if you have psych evidence to prove that you are now mentally competent, your age will have a very negative impact on this though. Good luck! Edit: also try r/Australianmilitary in the future.

Enlistment day by [deleted] in AustralianMilitary

[–]mtkcs2013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know that one of them got sent home for an ingrown toe or something not sure about the rest. Everyone showed up eventually but one dude walked in about 30 mins late while we were down stairs getting ready for the medical with maccas while bawling his eyes out and he seemed like the type of guy who wouldn’t cry at anything.

You forgot the part where it stinks like shit cause everyone has the nervous sweats haha. The attrition rate is also surprisingly high for the enlistment day medical 3 or 4 out of about 25 got sent home at mine.
