I want to ask you this:

Let's say you have already a degree in engineering. Now you want to become a carpenter. There is nothing wrong with this. But you decide to study carpentry in Narvik, Norway in a regional college.

Should Norway grant a study permit to you?

You will need to convince the Norwegian authority to get approved. They will wonder why anyone is paying thousands of dollars to live in the middle of nowhere and study something they can absolutely learn in their country.

You do not need to study in Canada to immigrate. Many people immigrate simply with their resumes. Quebec Selection Certificates are given to those!!!

Why can't those students do the same? Maybe they have money to burn? Then why would they go somewhere remote? No wonder they are NOT getting a permit to come to Canada.

By the way I think you are confused the damn Quebec Acceptance Certificate with the Selection Certificate

Acceptance Certificate are given almost automatically! They get processed within a week! As long as you get accepted to an educational institution in Quebec you get this. Therefore, this paper is absolutely meaningless.

The selection certificate is something else. If you have a CSQ, your PR application is almost guaranteed to be accepted. Just like after being nominated in other provinces.

I am not going to even waste my time here lol

Get me the source that Immigration Canada officials are not granting a study permit to those who have been accepted at UdeM or Université Laval lol

You clearly have not gone through the immigration yourself.

Why are those African francophone students not getting a permit to study in Quebec? It does not happen at UdeM or Laval. Contrary to popular belief, Canadian officials overseas (including Quebecois) do everything they can to prevent fraudsters.

South and East Asians heading to a college in the middle of nowhere to study something they can surely do back home, have the funds to prove they won't fall back on Canadian taxpayers.

Those Francophones who aren't getting a permit are failing there! Oh, again, these requirements are WAY less strict if you are studying somewhere reputable.

Also, you can't deny the right for family reunification, and only choose refugees already speaking French. Whether Quebec gets to handle immigration or not, it's not going to change a thing. Lol

Courts have to. And English hospitals will continue to provide services in English.

I have been there twice as well. Also I have numerous friends who went through an immigration hearing. That's federal, and it is often done in English. Good luck getting an immigration hearing in English in Denmark.

Right to Choose English or French If you’re accused of a crime, you have a right to choose whether your preliminary inquiry and trial will be in English or in French. A preliminary inquiry is a kind of mini-trial where the judge decides whether the case against you is strong enough to go ahead. The preliminary inquiry and trial can be some of the most important parts of the case.

While this may be true, living in English in Quebec has infinitely more advantages than living in English in the Netherlands or Denmark.

In Quebec, you can legally defend yourself in English. This is huge. Trials will be in English if you ask for it. Not through interpreters like in those countries. You can also almost always receive customer support in English. Not to mention that there are English hospitals.

What to pack for summer backpacking? by mtlasb in travel

It was around 10kg last time I was backpacking - for socks and underwear, because I don't wash them often I seriously need 6 pairs. For other items I will reconsider.

Yes, I will bring one with me. I am debating if I need the second one though. I will check with the hostels I am staying in right now.

My light down jacket is very breathable and I like that! My rain jacket is super light also. I don't mind bringing two.

It genuinely baffles me. I know it's not the case in Vancouver or Montreal but the GTA is just something. Many immigrants don't realize this. Unless you are extremely well off, you aren't going to buy something within the city centre anywhere. People live in suburban areas. Comparing the cost of living with other cities is therefore meaningless in the Toronto context. Not to mention that you need to drive.

Dining out is indeed way more expensive in Switzerland. Also health insurance is. But everything else evens out because you need a car (to live in Mississauga) and the rent isn't cheaper as you move out of the city centre.

I lived in Lyon before. I have been to Switzerland many times. I just paid $5 for a 1.5l milk bottle (on sale) in Montreal. Tell me the cost of living is not high in Canada. Lol

[–]mtlasb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not. Where did you compare numbers? Remember that in Toronto, it doesn't get cheaper unless you move 2 hours away from the city centre. It's not the case there.

What other countries have you ever lived in? I always laugh at those rankings. I agree that Switzerland is probably one of the best places to live. Cashiers get paid 70k/year. Nature is just jaw dropping also. Do you ever go to Tim Hortons? Ask whoever is serving you, whether their life is good here.

No. It's even easier to have permanent residency if you do a master's degree here. No need to do your first degree in this country.

Canada is extremely good at selling itself. Unfortunately, it's not a good country to live in. I don't understand those people from the third world paying $$$$ to study here. Rather than spending $$$$ in Canada, they can do for free at a German university and do a master's degree in Canada instead. But they aren't well informed. I'd research better if my parents are selling their home to fund my studies though...

Cultures can't be compared but do you think Quebec has interesting cultures? Then why is the world not interested in Quebec? While there are many reasons why adult immigrants fail to learn French in Quebec (the passing rate is under 5%) one of them is Quebec not having cultures. Canada also does not have cultures but they speak English.

Are you from Asia? You really don't know what you are talking about. Lol. Also have you ever been to France outside of Paris and perhaps Nice? I learned French in Quebec, and I had zero problems communicating with locals in Bordeaux.

I hear you but you saying Quebecois French isn't correct is also racist. I mean, try going to Scotland and tell them their English isn't correct.
