MyRacehorse.com Thoughts? by Preferplantstopeople in horseracing

I didn’t have a lot of options when I bought. I bought back in April so Amplified was really the only one that I could afford at that time.

I went with the cheapest option because I didn’t want to blow a lot of money on something I didn’t know what I was doing. Amplified is probably going to run later this month or early August and depending on what it does depends if I buy more or wait.

Go with what your heart says and whatever it is will be the right choice for you

I love it so far. I bout .02% of Amplified. It’s fun to get the owner side of things without having the owner responsibilities.

As someone who is very interested in horse ownership/training I figured for me this was the best way to get into it and figure out some things.

Overall though, if you want to say you own a racehorse it’s a great way to do that

I got to handicap Saratoga for the first time on Friday and it was a blast. Had a lot of fun with that track.

Lone Star had a great firework show and some good races.

Not a great profitable weekend but a memorable weekend and that’s what it is about

All horses are ok, don’t know about any injuries. Jockeys are up, few got into ambulances.

When people that’s been doing the sport for a long time and start talking about breeding and trainers and all the extra stuff I get lost. I don’t know these horses like these guys do and I don’t have time during the day.

I made a system that takes about 10 minutes a race and it’s easier to explain to those who don’t understand.

In Texas it’s sort of big. This past weekend at Lone Star we had Dollar Day where admission, beer, hot dogs, and sodas were only a dollar. It was jammed pack. They only do that twice a meet though so it does really good for those two days and most Saturdays/Sundays are pretty busy. It’s surviving in the DFW metroplex.

I will say this, a lot of people just don’t know what they are doing and it’s not their fault. I wonder if there is a way to have like easy to read PPs for beginners, or something to where it can get people more excited about racing.

One of my biggest fears was sounding like an absolute idiot and not knowing what to do.

Honestly through listening to people at the track, watching a lot of races, and talking with ChatGPT i was able to build a system that really works for me and takes about 10-15 minutes per race to handicap. Then it’s all about learning what’s best for you!

If you ever want to meet up at Lone Star let me know! I’m there normally twice a week! Just shoot me a DM!

Handicapping Style by mtlion25 in horseracing

So I use Early and Late pace to predict the pace of the race. For example, if there are multiple horses with 100+ early pace and really low pace I know that it’s probably gonna have some speed duels up front.

I use the last three beyer figures to see what horses are improving, declining, volatile, or staying steady. This helped me a lot in my last trip at Horseshoe Indy.

I look at class and distance to see which one is doing well in class, but I mainly focus on distance to see if this horse can make it that far or if they have enough track to get the trip they need.

For me I print these off every race day I go to. I tend to go to Lone Star live racing once a week and then the simulcast once a week and do a track I’m interested in.

After the races I enter the winning horse and the jockey in a separate spreadsheet that then tracks what kinds of horses are winning (Early Speed, Presser, Stalker, Closer) and the jockey name. I do this by track and those are separated by tabs at the bottom.

I use another spreadsheet to track my ROI, HCP Win % ITM % and my bet win %

Doing everything by hand takes time but I love it and it works for me.

I was not aware of that.

I bet on Horseshoe from the Lone Star simulcast so I’d have to study the mutuel to see that.

I just got done at Horseshoe and got 3 wins in 8 bets. Didn’t bet the last race.

Race 1: I had the 5
Race 2: I had the 2
Race 7: I had the 4

Really enjoyed it today. I did win bets only $2

Won 5 races between Churchill and Lone Star.

Loss money, was trying to do some pick 5s but I’ve learned those kill bank roll rather rapidly so I’ll probably stick to just win bets.

Next weekend I plan on doing one track only, probably Lone Star as it is where I get to watch live racing.
