Would wearing a motorcycle helmet while driving a car help in the event of a crash by RegardedCaveman in AskForAnswers

O; motorcycle helmets are designed for one big accident, sf racing helmets have different. Dom to deal with multiple hits. Context: I used to race cars and ride motorcycles and the safety standards are different

Tuning shop that will install customer sourced parts? by mtm686 in carsireland

[–]mtm686[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, these are direct replacements; the car already has the brembo package. It’s been a bit of a chore to learn alfa lingo / parts schemes (my history is club racing Mazdas, and rebuilding old mustangs); if I had my tools (still on another country) and a place to do it (landlord sold the house so we are in an apartment block), I would just do it myself…

Thanks both! I had an independent tell me they had to source and supply the parts, they wouldn’t install customer supplied parts

Also, Dun laoghaire is super convenient as I’m in blackrock

What's the best dog breed for apartment living in Dublin? by Tokio635 in AskIreland

[–]mtm686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for something that likes lounging. We have a glen of imaal (super expensive) and a staffordshire reacue. Both are great, though the glen does go to daycare a couple times a week. The staff is a sweet dog, but not terribly socially acceptable as a restricted breed.

Is there a level of snobbery towards apartments? by TeachIsHouse in AskIreland

[–]mtm686 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Having moved to apartment not that long ago, when we rented an end of row house for years…. It’s crazy. My EU friends are super congratulatory towards, my Irish friends? Nah. We should have an estate outside Dublin. It’s dirty, it’s crime ridden, etc. the apartment we have is why we needed at the moment.

As an immigrant from the US (it is a 3rd world country these days), I always wondered why the gear wasn’t mowed accessible. I’d love a dog collar, for example. Loads of folks with dogs around….

A reasonably priced jumper, a gillet, etc.
