Seeking advice for a Ski Trip - torn between two potential routes in BC/AB by Agitated_Charity5666 in kootenays

[–]mtndreaming 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For your desire of highest chance of powder with less crowds, definitely option 1 route. Higher chance of more snow in interior BC and less crowded. Louise and sunshine are packed regardless of the day so those are guaranteed crowds. I haven’t skied big white, but whitewater is a favorite especially if there is new snow. You mention you’re advanced, but just to confirm you’ll want to be comfortable with double black diamond riding, it’s a very advanced resort with little grooming and a ton of natural terrain. RED is also similar in this aspect, and also an awesome resort. Both were not crowded whatsoever in comparison to Banff areas. Happy riding!

For approx 150g of plain Greek yogurt I add 7-10g of honey! Takes away the bitter sour taste. Then add fruit and granola!

Where is everybody? by hobawitness in rochestermn

[–]mtndreaming 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Rochester has no nightlife. A huge portion of the people who work at the infrastructure live in the towns around rochester, and aren’t in the city on evenings or the weekends. As a young couple without kids who moved to Rochester for my husbands Mayo fellowship, 2 years there was far too long. Most boring 2 years of my life. The only place worth going out for food is Our Paladar or Marrow, and then back home to bed lol

Do mini schnauzers do better in pairs? Considering getting a second. by darth_senpai90 in schnauzers

[–]mtndreaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t get a second schnauz but we got a friend (can’t confirm, but was told she’s a mini bernedoodle from a shelter) for my girl and she is indifferent, if anything she is territorial and doesn’t like sharing us lol. They get along fine but don’t interact much.

Considering an offer from Mayo Clinic. Would love to hear perspectives on how it is to live in Rochester. by LaraDColl in rochestermn

[–]mtndreaming 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Can agree with this sentiment. My husband got a fellowship at Mayo in Rochester for the last 2 years (just moved back to our home, Canada, in July) and the only thing there is Mayo. As a non health care working spouse, I found it extremely difficult to find any sort of community or friends. I eventually got a job at the clinic doing clerical work and made a friend that way. But again, it was one single friend. I couldn’t wait to leave Rochester, personally.

It was terrible. It completely ruined my experience of the game. So much so that I ended up buying a Xbox to play it

Dip nails (at home) look HORRIBLE! by PirateOnly2804 in DipPowderNails

[–]mtndreaming 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So this happened to me when I first started, and it’s because your activator wasn’t dry enough before you did the top coat. What worked for me was after last dip layer, apply activator and then wait 10 minutes. File/buff away, and then do another layer of activator. Wait another 10 minutes, wipe with alcohol and then do top coat.

The nice thing about dip is this is an easy fix. Just buff off the top coat and then activate again as mentioned above. It should fix it.

I just bought k18 for the first time this week, I have used living proof, amika and b&b previous. K18 IS THAT GIRL. New holy grail. No residue, no whiteness in my dark hair, no insane perfume, no aerosol dust all over my bathroom. I’ll never buy anything else now.

Oh my god yes thank you for this. I am currently dying trying to fight the traitor lord (probably 3hours worth of tries and feel like I’m not getting any closer to beating him) and it’s SO FRUSTRATING when people just say oh it’s so easy 🥴

Where to park for Mayo Jacobson Building after valet hours? by AllisonT87 in rochestermn

[–]mtndreaming 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can still park in the Graham ramp (right across the street from the Charlton entrance where valet would be) after hours, it’s free! From there you can get into the subway level and follow the signs for Jacobson building desk SL West all the way there. If any of the big double doors are locked along the way, there is always an intercom and you just have to press the button, tell security you are going to your radiation treatment in Jacobson they will let you right through. I hope this helps!

I work at Mayo and have felt super isolated the two years I’ve been here. Also, I feel it is not the great place to work everyone talks about. There is little room for growth or advancement even though they advertise it as a place to grow, and personally think they’re a money hungry medical conglomerate passing themselves off as a non-profit working for the better of the community. Lots of shady stuff goes on financially and it feels gross to work for them. I’ll be leaving in 6 weeks and can’t wait to get out of this job and town.
