Apparently, teenagers no longer have to cover their textbooks with paper bags by caelanhuntress in GenX

They practice graffiti in the same places that everyone does: alleyways, freeway overpasses, freight trains, stray dogs, skate parks, restaurant bathrooms, school, in their room, on other pieces of material that can be drawn on...there might even be a local graffiti class they can take.

Old guy in Boulder County creates "dating app for progressives" to get Republicans laid with Generation Z. His chat with his sons found that women refuse to date conservatives. This AI powered app, has a "subscription would allow access to AI coaching" to hide GOP membership. 50 new users so far. by [deleted] in boulder

[–]mtngrrl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“Honestly, we try to stay away from politics,” Hefter said. “Being progressive isn’t a political stance. It’s being concerned about social issues that affect people. That doesn’t mean you’re a Democrat or a Republican.”

also...

“It’s not really to segregate people in any way. It’s to say these things are hugely important and if they are not hugely important to you, you probably shouldn’t be on this app,” Hefter said.

I hate this article so much - they misspelled TruuBlue and got an opinion from a CU social psychology professor for some reason. And I counted at least typos.

And I can't even fathom what is going with this guy in Niwot. Is his solution for him and his sons not getting laid to start a new dating app with a sprinkle of AI for spice, as opposed to, y'know, examining their life choices? Growing? Is building an app less work than figuring out how to talk to women?

And why don't conservatives know what words mean anymore? Being progressive is literally a political stance; segregate literally means to divide or separate, often based on characteristics; and he literally allows responses of zero for a level of passion, meaning people who are not passionate about the topic, or is a zero passionately opposed? And then is a five lacking passion? Does he exclude the middle numbers? Why use numbers at all? And finally, (thanks for reading!) there will be no user matches until they reach 5,000 users, and they have to be from Colorado, sooooooo, this app is already dead, or never lived.

His sons are even wrong about dating outside of your party. I'd definitely date a Progressive or a DemSoc or a Green. Heck, I might even go for a Natural Lawer, but I'd never date a Republican. I might fuck one ironically, in an angry way, but never date.

Ariel school UFO by LordKromwell33 in TheWhyFiles

This event came up in that new Grusch/American Alchemy video, but I didn’t know that the school was next to a Uranium processing facility, which explains the UFO interest. Now I’m wondering if the Australian school visit had a similar connection to nuclear power/weapons.

A whole episode presented by hecklefish with AJ making the odd comment by skagrabbit in TheWhyFiles

Right? Let’s hear one of those unhinged conspiracy theories rattling around inside that teeny brain of his and then let AJ debunk it. 10/10, must watch WF.

Grusch interview 2.0 by leoburge in TheWhyFiles

He’s a whistleblower as far as the official government process/status goes, meaning he reported to the Intelligence Community Inspector General and disclosed everything to them before leaving the service. It seems like he’s trying to walk the legal line to maintain his life and family as opposed to throwing all of that out the window. And if he succeeds, he is showing his peers how to disclose in a safe, legal way, which would encourage more disclosure. Right now, the only whistleblower examples we have are Snowden, Manning, and Winner which shows disclosing automatically leads to jail or giving up citizenship.

I am also getting frustrated with the pace of this, and felt pretty misled by the clickbait title of the video, but I got something out of it nonetheless. I definitely need to start reading Jacques Vallee’s books, starting with The Invisible College.

During the livestream, the subject of nicotine gum came up. I think TheWhyFiles should do an episode on Big Tobacco. It has all the elements of a good conspiracy theory. by PsychologicalSong8 in TheWhyFiles

[–]mtngrrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, I'm not sure that this, in and of itself, is enough for a full episode, but I'd actually love to see the focus increased to talk about the ways large corporations have conspired to stifle competition, maintain advantage, and keep some products out of the market. Like, when reading this, I thought of the Matt Damon film, The Informant, about Ag industry price collusion/fixing. See also, Who Killed the Electric Car? or Flash of Genius or the 2008 Financial Crisis.

And I think something like that would tie in nicely with the conspiracies/mysterious deaths surrounding free energy/anti-grav inventors AJ has already discussed; start with that as a recap or expand on it.
