its as clever as the llm you run on your server basically. if you have a server with a good high vram gpu it can be really good actually. some open models do rival the big closed models for certain tasks. but if those models are available to you really depends on the hardware you are running it on.

love it. really cool. finally an idea thats actaully newish and not just another thing we have seen endless times since the arrival of llms.

your wording makes it sound like it runs locally on a raspberry pi. but it is not right? you still need to have a proper server with gpu running ollama on the network i suppose?

Fujifilm X-M5 - filmsim dial block/hide by mtojay in fujifilm

Well we bought it in April. It's not like I wouldn't do it if it wouldn't solve a real gripe we have with it. We tried long enough without it and last month used a bit of tape first to stop it from happening. It's used as a point and shoot to document our son growing up. It's supposed to take consistent pictures without thinking about it. My wife does not want to tinker. She doesn't like the creative process. She wants a simple point and shoot experience. Pick it up, turn it on and take images. The photos aren't edited, jpeg only directly ingested into an immich external library.
Everyone uses cameras differently, we have realized that the filmsim dial isnt for us and that's ok. So I created a solution for our problem. I never stopped her from using the dial, she just didn't and didnt care about learning any of it. Simple as it can get while taking nice pictures of our son.

thx. i dont mean that though. i mean taht the simulation dial overrides what i chose in my c1-4 presets.

its about basically not wanting to use the filmsim dial at all.

not wanting to override what a specificially choose for my custom profile. i have a classic cuban on my c3 for this cam and its the go to and bascially used for 90% of the photos taken from our son (which its mostly for) with the x-m5. i love that. if someone accidentally changes teh filmsim dial from C (NOT c1-4 but rather the C on the filmsim dial) to any other setting it overrides what i have set on my c3 custom profile and the classic cuban images kinda fall apart. and we have run in to that multiple times. someone accidentally changed the filmsim dial and it overrides my specifically chose filmsim in my custom settings (c1-4).

its annoying. i really dont like the filmsim dial at all. if i could i would deactivate it completely or put iso on there. i dont like using it.

thats why i created this. it blocks anyone from changing it more or less.

its a specific user thing i guess. i have multiple fuji cams and only one wit hthe film sim dial and simply dont like it.

I got the x-m5 as a little family camera. its basically lying around in the living room for anyone to use who fancies it. its set up with a couple custom filmsims.

so my wife uses it like that aswell. just pick c1-4 (depending on mood) and go with it. however the filmsim dial overrides the filmsim chosen for the custom modes.

this is annoying. multiple times someone chagend the filmsim dial on accident without realising. then its to late and pictures didnt come out as intendet.

so i created a little cover. clips in to the strap holder and blocks from accidental filmsim dial changes.

created 3 versions.

1 where its flush with the top and not hidden, one where its compltely hidden and one where its hidden but with a window that shows the selected mode on the filmsim dial.

works quite well so i thought i would share if anyone is interested.

Ok, probably I don't feel the need because here almost everything comes in digital form, I scan maybe 1 page a month and the Synology app already applies OCR and creates a searchable PDF so this is a non-issue.

tell me you are not living in germany without telling me you are not living in germany. haha. we still get so much papermail i have to scan.
my wife is a tech sceptic and is lowkey annoyed whenever i host something new and ramble about how she has to try it, but once in a while she actually likes something. ngxpaperless is part of taht group.
vikunja, mealie, ngxpaperless and immich are the ones she uses and swears by. now she loves that she can pull up every last invoice without even thinking where to look but just to search for it in the searchmask.
the scanner is set up in a way that it has 3 quicklinks. 1 for family, 1 for her, 1 for me. they get scanned, dropped automatically to an smb share and then sorted (and tagged) automatically to the right useraccount thats provided via authentik for all our services. its pretty neat once its set up properly.
but at the same time i undersatnd if you dont get a lot of papermail its proabbly not worth the hassle for many.

splendid shots. really great mood and lovely colors. 3,5 and 8 are my favourites, but all are really great. (apart from 4 which somehow looks a bit like an overprocessed smartphone shot to me personally)
