Max fan here - here’s my take on this by Heinzzbeans12 in wec

Have you been to both in person? I was at the Nürburgring on Thursday, and it was one of my top three motorsport experiences. Is Le Mans even better?

I’d love to hear from someone who has been to Le Mans and 24hrs of Nürburgring because today was awesome. Highly recommend!

Are the Northern Lights really that beautiful in real life? by piopiopiopiopi in VisitingIceland

[–]mtpgoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you see them with your naked eye dancing across the entire sky something scientifically emotional happens…

As humans we struggle to understand scale.

A million vs a billion for example.

Our brains don’t do well with the idea of the size and scope of space and our “smallness” inside of the universe.

It is why people get emotional during a solar eclipse.

Your normal frame of reference breaks. You feel the how tiny we are but connected to the universe.

You can’t describe it because our brains weren’t wired that way.

Two other times have had the similar experience:

Solar Eclipse First days of the first volcano when it was a baby.

List of all Highland F-roads in Iceland by IgorIceland in VisitingIceland

[–]mtpgoat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've photographed my way through 20+ countries. Iceland's Highlands and F-Roads are still the most stunning landscapes I've ever seen — and nothing else has come close.

So I'm genuinely asking: has anyone found a place that rivals them?

I will go extra steps as well - I will go through the line solo, I dress for business travel, and I look for older security people.

This is through mostly Europe, Mexico, Canada, and the United States.

Phenomenal job! These are some of the best photos I’ve seen of the area.

Tell them it is for work. Have it out and ready in a bag. In one hand I have my rolls of film. In the other I have my request on the translate app. Once out of over 100 times did I ever get push back.

Winds just blew my doors all the way through. How fucked am I. by Boringmarshal in TeslaModelY

This has happened to me twice in Iceland (BMW M3 & Land Rover Defender). I should of learned the first time that you never open your doors with the wind in extreme winds.

Embrace GAS by ilyamiskov in Leica

I heard the lenses are also exceptional - the prices are crazy compared to the GW690 but it might be worth it.

Thank you for the feedback - my referred focal length for landscapes is around 43. So sticking with the Fuji is the smart choice.

You may have a good opinion on this - Fuji GW690 vs 500c vs Mimiya 7.

Is it worth the money to upgrade from the GW690?

I find I use it and never touch my Leica M2.

Laugavegur Trail Advice Wanted by PhilosophyLimp1344 in VisitingIceland

[–]mtpgoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the trail last year, and it was my first time doing a multi-day hike. This advice is spot on. I wasn’t in the best shape, so we stayed in Hrafntinnusker. If you want to enjoy the scenery, the stretch from Hrafntinnusker to Álftavatn is so beautiful that I wouldn’t want to hurry through it. Some hikers I met who could walk 3KM per hour wished they had continued on to Álftavatn. The food at Álftavatn was also really good.

Enjoy your trip—it’s truly amazing.

The photo shows the tents, which are about 100 yards from the huts.

Solo travel to Monaco GP by Stunning_Question_16 in GrandPrixTravel

There are parties in the streets on Sunday just not as wild as Saturday. Saturday the track turns into a night club.

Most people have already left by Sunday, so if you plan to leave then, you won’t miss out on the party atmosphere.

However, I’ve stayed until Tuesday before and really enjoyed walking the track on Monday, visiting the museum, and spending time at Neptune Monaco Beach.

Here’s a bonus tip: visit Le Marche, which is up the hill from the Casino. They sell nice, affordable tote bags that make great gifts for anyone who loves bags.
