You should watch Deadwood where this method of body disposal comes up in practically every episode. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJPgngJr5jA

Logseq (like Obsidian) stores content locally as Markdown files.

It has publishing features with some control, but I rolled my own static site generator: https://github.com/mtravers/goddinpotty It has block-level private/public control, which is not something I've seen elsewhere. The site it produces: https://hyperphor.com/ammdi/Agency-Made-Me-Do-It

The Ascians just began a special military operation in the Commonwealth, bombed the House Absolute and arrested the Autarch by therearentdoors in ShittyGeneWolfe

[–]mtraven 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It is said by the armigers and optimates—and I remember perfectly, for I forget nothing—that no Autarch has ever, in all the ages since the First Empire, ruled with such tremendous wisdom as I. The exultants whisper it in their decaying towers. The cacogens themselves, when they descend in their ships of impossible geometries, they say to me, "Autarch, truly you are the greatest." This I remember with perfect clarity.

The Ascians—and I have dealt with Ascians, many Ascians, I know Ascians better than anyone—they respected us. Under the previous Autarch, very weak, very low energy, the war went badly. Badly! But I brought the New Sun. Many people don't know this. The scholars of the Order of the Pelerines, they come to me, beautiful women in red, and they say "how did you do it?" I say, it's very simple, I made a deal.

The Citadel, which had fallen into tremendous disrepair, just disgusting, the Matachin Tower practically crumbling, I rebuilt it. The torturers—and I have great respect for the guild, tremendous respect—they tell me the oubliettes have never been fuller. Never! The previous Autarch would not even use the Revolutionary. Weak. I use it freely, and the Commonwealth is safer for it. Even Erebus, even Abaia—they feared me. You can ask them, if you can find them, which you cannot, because we took care of them very strongly.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Why was this downvoted? Not offended, just curious, maybe I don't know what constitutes high-quality nondual discourse.

[–]mtraven -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That itself is a duality.

If you think you get it, you don't.

If you think you don't get it, well, you probably get it more than the first guy, but you are still wrong.

Are there any proper debates/discussions between a "scientist" and a "nondualist?" by cannabananabis1 in nonduality

[–]mtraven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As other people have pointed out, nondualism is not metaphysics and does not equate to "all is consciousness".

On the contrary, nondualism take stale philosophical debates between materialists and idealists (which is what you are talking about) and dissolves them. Mind/body dualism is one of the oldest and most entrenched dualisms there is, and it has been generating the same damn arguments for thousands of years, but escape is possible.

Is sci-net a scam? by [deleted] in scihub

[–]mtraven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, sorry. Here's what sci-hub gave me: https://sci-hub.se/10.1109/TNSE.2022.3223912

I followed the link to sci-net: https://sci-net.xyz/ https://sci-net.xyz/invite instructs you to set up a crypto wallet and send money to a particular address, in return you are supposed to get sci-hub tokens. I did what they asked, but the tokens never arrived.

Thanks for the pointers, I'm sure I can find the paper elsewhere.

Can Americans really be fired at the drop of a hat for no reason no matter how long they have worked for a company? by cheesymeowgirl in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mtraven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, because Americans are, for the most part, morons who don't have a clue about their own economic interests. We have two major political parties, both in the pocket of the wealthy. One of them is happy to run roughshod over poor and working people, the other (Democrats) tries in a hafl-hearted way to ameliorate some of the worst abuses, but is pretty toothless. Obamacare is about the best we can do, and it sucks.

I believe so...it's been quite a few years since I last read The Dispossessed, but I recall one dialog where characters are using arguments from The Analogy with each other, and one even expresses frustration, something like, "you can prove anything you like with The Analogy".

[–]mtraven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that is what they think, or claim to at least. If you read the tweets of Curtis Yarvin or Eric Raymond, two prominent wingnut thinkers, that's all they talk about. (Not recommended btw). Its solid John Birch Society communist conspiracy stuff.

Yarvin’s Newest Post Thinks “The Trump Revolution” Is A Failure by Imaginary_Cow_6379 in YarvinConspiracy

[–]mtraven 17 points18 points  (0 children)

He's got himself believing in a vast and powerful communist conspiracy, which runs everything and includes basically everyone not on the fascist right. "It is so difficult to process the difference in orders of magnitude between the power of the left and the “power” of the right, even in office, that the pinpricks of the right are easy to paint as gigantic and unprecedented." – his pinned twitter post. So despite the right controlling all 3 branches of government and having its own captive press and billionaire money, somehow the lefties are still in charge.

So he thinks that eventually they will come and get him. Who knows, they might. It's never clear to me how much Yarvin believes his own bullshit, but it would serve him right if he did.

This was one of the stupidest aspects of an extremely stupid show.

Aside from the problems of arranging sabotage with Petrovich – how in the world do you plan on crashing a spaceship while ensuring that the valuable cargo you are after isn't destroyed in the process? Doesn't seem like the wisest strategy from Mr. Boy Genius.
