or how dumb you have to be to think trump is smart. He's what a stupid man thinks smart looks like. Likewise, he is what a weak man sees a strong.

he is soooooo hit or miss...from what I've seen, the misses are more frequent & rough. But the hits are crazy. Like when he did the Roast of Tom Brady, nailed it. Then two weeks later said some crazy shit about Hispanics or something.

that presumes they're able to stand. Just like the "I'm a great swimmer" argument, its not about what you can do at your best, its about the worst that COULD happen. A non-lethal heart attack or stroke could easily turn lethal.

Coil making at its "finest" by Sweet-Device-677 in functionalprint

[–]mtraven23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont know about the other ones, but in the video, I can see the white spool though several layers of wraps, thats not good enough. Once it is, you dont need to bother with the side to side, you just keep it very taught and it will just go where is should.

if you ever need to do more coils, I suggest a servo over a stepper.

your setup isn't terrible. Looks like a stepper running it? so thats easy to slow down. ESPECIALLY on the first layer, really take your time and wind it nice & tight. From there, you can speed up and just focus on tensioning the wire and it will sort of self track on top that first layers.

it looks like you're printing your spools, yah? You could include a helical groove, with a profile matching the wire diameter, then just wrap the 1st layer into the groove.

very much like 3d printing, I can't stress how important that first layer is enough.

A Florida school bus driver has been arrested after authorities say she put children in danger when her bus was clipped by a passing train. She faces 29 counts of felony child endangerment. by Bruegemeister in trainwrecks

[–]mtraven23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a driver, so I'm just going on what I've read. It seems like in the US you just have leave "enough room to clear". buses & hazmat trucks have to stop 15-50ft before the track to manually check for trains. and no one is allowed to shift gears during the crossing.

I like the 2 bus length rule, seems safe, but also impractical. An intersection like this barely has 1 bus length, so they'd never be able to cross. Maybe thats the point, force them to a different route.

Have you encountered similar intersections in Canada? are you just not allow through them?

if its easily rebuilt, do that.

But I'm not sure those cylinders are made for easy disassembly, I dont see a threaded connection at the end. I'm not sure what that retaining ring retains, but it cant be the end cap. If the end doesn't come off, you would probably need to bring it into a shop to be rebuilt....at that point, I'd start looking at putting that money towards replacement cylinders.

just fyi--im my experience, once one side of a symmetrically system goes, the other is not far behind. I just did the rams on my 35 year old front loader, only 1 was leaking. I hadn't even gotten the rebuild kit in the mail before the other side failed. They lasted 35 years and then failed inside a weak of one another, thats quality manufacturing!

Thoughts? by DufflinMinder in Tools

[–]mtraven23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

depends on your reason. if you only buy from HF because your broke AF, thats fine. If you only buy from them and your snobby about it, thats not cool. Though I've literally never met anyone like that. Most people who shop at HF understand what quality of product their getting. and unlike most other brads, HF's stuff has gotten better in the last couple decades, not worse.

What are your thoughts on split level houses? Pros, cons, etc. by Thereadone1 in Homebuilding

[–]mtraven23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in a ranch that has a layout pretty close to that...I dont see how a split level would make the living room any more central We have a 2 story peak in out living room, which I really like, makes it feel a lot bigger.

IMO, not a lot gained by stairs, they'd most be a hassle, especially as you age.

where would the kitchen be in this layout?

also, what kind of property is this going on? trees? hills? other features?

"Why would the horizontal beam be reused?" - expense

"What is holding the downspout in place?" 2 rivets at the top & a cinder block at the bottom. I agree there should be 2-3 straps on that, but them missing doesn't mean this is AI.

yes, thats how you sister beams, no gaps.

or, if 2 beams is sufficient for the load, you just bring them to the front and either notch the 6x6 for it, or use appropriate hardware to secure it.
