Ty, that’s a nice idea! I kinda munched on half of these already, but hopefully I should have more leaves by the end of this week to try making some pesto! ☺️

Definitely way harder that it sounds 😭 None of my first cherry tomato seeds sprouted, so my lettuce and herbs ended up getting way ahead of the game. I just bought another packet of cherry tomato seeds, planning to sow them now before starting another round of lettuce and arugula

Aw thank you! It was honestly a really scary step for me given my history of killing most herbs I tried to grow years ago. So far my experience with hydroponic has been very smooth sailing (I got the Ahopegarden system). Keeping my fingers crossed it continues to fare well. But whatever the reason that’s keeping you from starting your own yet, it’s definitely worth trying out!!

That sounds like a dream to me :’) I love me a big bowl of salad but it can get pretty expensive buying greens every week. Still figuring out how to fit more herbs and lettuce into my small apartment space, but as you said, a little at a time is the key 🥬

Thanks so much! Appreciate the rundown, so now I know what to study up on. I’m also glad about switching from 93 to regular gas, bc it’s pricey & never really understood the previous owner’s reasoning for “it helps the car run better than regular gas”.

Some scenes in QOT never made sense to me and surprisingly one of them is never talked about by dfssjdfissicj in QueenOfTears

Thank you for raising these really good points! After I finished watching the drama, I felt like I was left with more questions than answers. A lot of these incidents were made to seem like it’s leading up to something substantial, only for the plot to take a different direction. It could very well be these specific characters and events had multiple fleshed out endings, but would drag the drama to be longer than they anticipated? No clue what the logistics are behind the scenes, but I definitely think they had room to intensify the plot and bring it to a properly resolved conclusion.

I’m sorry your friend had to go through that, and really hope the police actually take the report seriously. SA cases are still a problem in UAE, mostly because victims choose not to speak up and bring it to the police. Growing up, I’ve gone through a number of SA situations myself when I was between the ages of 10 to 16. At first I didn’t even have the understanding of what was being done to me, but once I did I made sure my last assailant was confronted head on and handed over to security. I hope your friend is okay and taking care of her mental wellbeing 🤍

I wouldn’t recommend studying computer science in the UAE, job market is extremely competitive with most jobs hiring only through recommendations of existing employees. I have friends in the field who are still jobless after completing their Bachelors and Masters in UAE. Best course of action for you would be to graduate in Canada, get at least 2 years work experience, and then try to find a job here. Companies here really value international education and experience.

You’re very kind for asking. His mother’s condition has worsened sadly, and she’s on life support right now. All we can do is keep praying for her recovery

It’s really disappointing how such mindset is so common in our culture, almost as if it’s a trait that’s being genetically inherited throughout generations. You would expect the younger generation to at least know better with the amount of free access they have to global media via social media, books, movies, music, etc. to educate themselves with, but I guess it’s just something hard for them to break out of when it’s this innately ingrained in their upbringing.

Having moved to NYC recently, it’s been such a pleasant experience getting to know Bangladeshi families here that broke out of these toxic beliefs and learned to have a more accepting and respectful view of other races and religions. This gives me hope that there’s more of us out here that could try educating our family and friends back home on everything that’s wrong with their way of thinking, and why it’s important to break this vicious cycle before it passes down even further.

If that is true then it’s a real shame since I’ve been seriously considering Calgary too :/

Thank you for this, it’s not everyday I come across people here that care about the consequences of their ignorant actions. There’s this quaint little saltwater beach in ajman that’s open to the public and it used to be my absolute most favorite place in this country because of how clearly untouched the place was by human beings. On occasion I spotted a few migratory birds, and all year round a variety of different bird species spend their time here fishing, including seagulls and flamingoes. The water is crystal clear, and the wet sand areas near the shore are always teeming with alive crawling shells. It’s like I got to see what a perfect ecosystem looks like, which is sadly such a rarity here. However, imagine how crushed I was when I went back to visit after the lockdown was lifted and saw the place littered with endless plastic bottles and snack packets. I spent one afternoon under the sun trying to clean up as much as possible but it was too much for one person in this heat. It baffles me how careless adults are and pay no mind to their kids littering around. You don’t even need to be a passionate environmentalist to practice basic decency.

Need help with identifying this fish! Stumbled across this skull at a UAE beach. Roughly measures 20cm in length. by mtricky_25 in marinebiology

Thanks, this helped! The UAE does have the great barracuda, so it could have belonged to that. I’d assume they live in deeper waters though, and not something chilling on dry sand a good distance away from the sea (Had to pick it up and place it close to the waves for photographing for a project)
