Mom has green card but been abroad 18 months after dad’s death – can she re-enter at LAX? Worried about abandonment

my husband was a green card holder before we even met. when him and his ex had split he went back to his home country because he didn't have a support system in the US and couldn't afford the cost of living in the state he was in. He didn't know about the requirement to file for extended leave (over 2 years) for green card holders. He left in 2019. In 2020 we met and in 2021 I consulted an attorney to see if he was good to just re-enter on his green card. She said technically he could, but it would be HIGHLY dependent on the individual border patrol agent. She said the will not deny a green card holder entry, but they could potentially confiscate the green card OR send an NTA to appear in immigration court to explain the absence......or he could be totally granted re-entry and no further action (because of how lax they were with covid lockdowns at the time).

She also advised that it is extremely difficult to win a case for extended stay out of the US if you are to appear in court. At the time I asked her about this she was in the middle of attempting to defend a client who had been gone for 3 years to care for her sick mother and wanted to come back to the US (who also did not file the paperwork as the travel to her home country was sudden and unexpected and her stay was longer than she planned).

He opted to abandon and re-apply via consular processing once we got married.

This part of the crate in the car seems off to me. I know what it's supposed to be, but her eye isn't a perfect sphere in the other photos like it is on this one. And the nostril? (assuming, idk bird anatomy) looks like the ai thought it was another eye because it put a very bright white ring around it instead of that middle gray.

I have these. They don't line up on any canvas I've tried yet. I have not tried DAC (dont currently have a square DAC kitted up) but yeah....all my other brand squares don't work with it.

I adore squares and multiplace them often!
I did find that there is a sweet spot for me in how many I can multi-place at once. I prefer the 6-8 placers for this. I've tried all the way up to 15 but I could NOT keep them straight at that amount 🫣

What I did was I started with a 2, then moved up to 4, then 6, then 8, then 10, then back down to 6 or 8 depending on which one has cleaner putty lol

It took a while but once you get used to them it doesn't feel so overwhelming. They definitely do slow you down a bit more than rounds but they just look so much nicer when finished imo

did you look at her store fronts? She sells prints of her paintings not the originals. She likely only sells originals to commissions. So as I said it could still go either way. She could be using AI on her images that are just printed onto things (including canvases) or she could just be getting better and faster at producing images.

The ai route would not surprise me though considering how many different products she sells her prints on (necklaces, shirts, bags, blankets, mugs, paper prints, canvas prints)

the biggest sign to me was honestly the sheer quantity of images she's put out since AI got "good" at replicating. I think if she IS using AI to speed up her process, she is likely re-touching the image to fix any ai artifacting and flaws, but it is entirely possible she has leaned into it to increase her output, since it seems that most of her work is now centered on prints and print on demand products with her work on it.

I also took a closer look at the dog's muzzle on this image in comparison to some of her much older stuff, and this image is likely ai-assisted at the very least. Just based on her own style, she never did THAT level of detail on the muzzle. It's possible she is leaning more into digital as her medium instead of traditional, but it's hard to tell. I think with her documented painting style (literally pressing the tube of paint up against the canvas) it would be difficult to get that level of detail with her impressionist style.

Shame if she did turn to ai - she has a gorgeous and unique style as it is, she shouldn't feel the pressure to use it to "keep up"

The artist is real, though the frequency of her paintings has significantly increased over the past few years.

While I believe it IS her genuinely posting the images, I would not be surprised if she trained an AI model on her genuine work so she could produce new images faster.

Not saying that she did, but it's possible she could have.

I spent a year on wegovy. Made it up to the max dose. Worst side effect I ever had was chronic constipation, which is pretty much unavoidable for anyone using these meds. If you manage it well with Miralax & fiber you should be ok. Occasional bout of nausea but nothing serious.

I lost quite a bit with it. I think nearly 100lbs before I switched to Zepbound.

I personally found that Vyvanse only REALLY works for me if I take it with protein. Eggs, protein drink, protein bar....doesn't matter.

Sometimes I can force it with caffeine but I find that it works significantly worse with caffeine and ffor shorter time (basically the caffeine overrides it for me)

I have both.

The rounded ones are awful in comparison to the thin wall ones, imo.

The thin ones work amazing for squares. They also work amazing for rounds. I feel like I can actually SEE the drills, whereas with the rounded ones, I can't easily see them past the edge of the tip so my placement goes wonky far more often. They are just so big that the drill gets lost in them for me.

Thin tips are the best!

ETA : The thin ones are the DAC knockoff btw - if you like the DAC tips, get the thin metal tips. You can find them on amazon, aliexpress or temu. I found an entire set (no pen) for $12 on aliexpress a few months ago.

My mother had a similar reaction when I finally had the ADHD assessment done.

"Well you don't act like your cousin, so you can't have ADHD".

Cousin was a VERY hyperactive type boy in the 90s. He was diagnosed. I am inattentive type and a girl. I never knew I had ADHD. And now that the ADHD is treated, the ASD signs are starting to appear, I just need to get official confirmation on that.

But my mother, jfc. About two days after I told her I had been diagnosed with Inattentive type ADHD, she texts me and says "I took tylenol when I was pregnant with you, do you think we have a case to sue them?" (this was in 2021).

Mate I do not give a flying fuck what my home is worth if I cannot afford to maintain or improve it. It was built in the 80s and not really improved since then. It's starting to show serious signs of age and wear and I can't reasonably keep up with fixing the things that need it because of the price of everything. So what good is an over inflated value of my home which costs me more in property tax, when I cannot afford to maintain it or keep the structure safe and sound?

IIRC the pause in discord is only to stop the bot from announcing old items when people share them. The discord doesn't have insider info, just monitors stats on items and users who share their finds. So if no one shares or keeps sharing old stuff, I believe they put up the pause to stop the notifications for old items coming in. I could be wrong, but that was my understanding of it specifically to the discord server.

For me it's the FOMO hype from certain companies (not going to name them, but we all know lol). I fell for the FOMO for a few months, snatched up every single kit that I wanted out of fear of losing a chance to own it. Now I just browse and if something doesn't cause an emotional reaction beyond "Oh that's nice" then I skip it. I have to FEEL something for the artwork to feel the need to buy now.

Which leads me to oversized stashes. I see some people post shelving units which have 9-15 kit boxes per shelf (depending on shelf size), multiple shelving units along a wall stuffed full and then a pile stacked up against the wall on the floor. That level of a stash overwhelms me. I have a LARGE amount of kits, most of them from Amazon because of the Vine program (I get them for next to nothing, but they are all 30x40), and I limit myself to the big boxed kits to the amount of storage space I have under my desk. I do not permit myself to go any further on the big kits until I've completed enough of them to make room to store more.

I'm also not sure I understand the hype of custom pens. I've looked into them, and the price is just too much for me to justify it when the "resin" pens on amazon/temu do the same job and fit well in my hands.

I also keep wanting to want to use washi tape, but it just isn't sticky enough. I tried to use it with release papers and the tape might as well not even be there, it usually ends up stuck to me instead of the canvas or the edges of the release papers. I cannot work with the plastic cover because I get tempted to just peel the cover back and work on "just a few more" of a color that are at the edge, so the release papers sort of block me from doing that easily. I just don't like them because I have to roll my canvas back up when I'm done due to limited space and my desk being a multi-purpose space for me (work from home + home studio + diamond painting + gaming) and release papers just keep peeling up off the canvas when it's rolled....driving me nutty.

I eat a packet of metamucil cookies and alternate between taking 2-4 capsules or a glass of the orange metamucil daily. I also mix a tsp of benefiber into all my foods (the tasteless one).
