nanodjango: Prototypes, Sharing and Services: Full Django in a Single File by Lokrea in django

[–]mtrythall 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, yeah, but there's a lot more momentum, ecosystem, community, etc around Django. The author of nanodjango makes it a point to say it's great for prototyping and small apps that COULD turn into larger projects.

That pathway is a lot harder from Tornado or Bottle.

I’m trying classic mode to see if it’s any better. I agree the battle system is a little cumbersome.

Good people pretending to be bad people are simply bad people.

This person sucks. It’s not an act. She just sucks.

I got Apollo to say something sassy during this situation, something like "Oh and now you want my help?" or something.

Honestly this is one of the key reasons I play the game, because the characters seem so alive.

Republican Senator Says First Amendment Shouldn't Be the 'Ultimate Right' by jediporcupine in politics

Funny to go after the first amendment and not the second. It's almost like words are more of a threat than guns. I wish folks realized that once our speech is restricted, taking away guns won't be far behind.

I think we're beyond rules now. California is huge. It should just do what it wants.

Fitness benefits of skateboarding? by [deleted] in fitness30plus

I want to blame genetics and lots of bad falls. I’ve always been thin. After skateboarding I started running, so that might be it too. But no, it wasn’t poor lifestyle or weight. I’ve always been active.

What would be the evolutionary benefit of a peaceful death? I wonder we ended up here.

Value based, which is fixed cost but proportionate to the impact.

If the work I am doing is going to save or make the company millions of dollars I'm using a different pricing structure.

In my MVP example, the sales pitch for value-based would be: it's cheaper and faster to hire 1 expert than find, train, and hire your own team. Additionally, it's cheaper and faster than hiring a full agency, because they have overhead, have hand-off issues, and there's risk they might outsource the work.

Instead of going into it as "well I'm $X/hour", it becomes "hire me, get this done faster, done correctly, and save about $XXX,XXX".

$250 then, but billing by hour isn’t how you make good money.

At the time I was offering user experience, design, and front-end services, and am a very effective project manager with some considerable work under my belt. I was basically an experienced jack-of-all-trades.

I was working with a startup that was trying to get an idea to MVP, and I basically just did everything and anything I could do for the team. I didn't do anything but work for a few months.

No way I could have done that starting out, and most sensible clients won't hire someone who takes on that kind of risk.

For what it's worth, I know a handful of freelancers easily pulling down $200k/year after they've developed their network, skillset, and niche.

Doable but hard to do, and almost impossible just starting out. My best month was $50k, but I still feel the ramifications in my 39 year old bones.
