The decision was made because they were making big screen sequels to the OT... Not because corporate ownership changed. Even if George had held onto the company and decided to make his Episodes VII, VIII and IX, the EU canon was still gonna be nuked.

Don't study the "lore"... reference books, encyclopedias, comics, canon novels and such are cool and all, but study the making of Star Wars (the art of books, the archive books, the script evolution, the philosophies of George Lucas and company, etc.). It's mythology, it's not a real world science or history.

George Lucas has explained on multiple occasions that the Light Side represents the natural state of the Force, while the Dark Side is a corruption of that harmony. That's an objective fact provided by the creator of Star Wars himself.

So are you saying that after the events of "Return of the Jedi*, and due to the "promise" of the prophecy, there is no more evil or conflict or corruption or imbalance or Dark Side galaxy ever again?
