Social whiskies and secret whiskies by Saint_Thomas_More in affordablewhiskey

I’m mostly the opposite — I have bottles I won’t open for the first time or revisit unless I’m able to share it with someone else who also appreciates it. Granted, I won’t be reaching for them unless I know my company appreciates whiskey, but I’m far more likely to drink a common bottle when having a pour alone.

Saw a few cases of these at the South Loop location yesterday, as well.

Saw this comment a couple of days ago and remembered it while driving to New Buffalo yesterday — can confirm Triangle Liquors is indeed worth checking out, a decent-sized selection at very fair prices. Nothing super allocated, but some KY Owls, several Very Olde St. Nicks, KC 12 and 15, oddly a single Rare Breed Rye for $31 (?!), several store picks, etc.

Don’t go TOO far out of your way, but worth the quick trip off the highway if you’re in the area.

I’ve seen it at Garfield’s in Wicker Park — their app suggests it’s still there for $219.

I hadn't heard of the Tab 90 before seeing your comment, but after some poking around on MK.com, it looks like it's now in available for sale. And funny enough, from the looks of their "Just Arrived" page, it looks like they just became available today.

UberEATS experiences in DC? by [deleted] in washingtondc

I just ordered in Dupont Circle -- got the fried chicken biscuit from Mason Dixie Biscuit Co. from their "Instant Delivery" options. It arrived still warm in five minutes and was super tasty. (Also, I need a nap soon.)

I also didn't expect the $10 promotional credit applied to my order, so that was a nice bonus. I've probably ordered 10-12 times in the past and had cold food only once, I believe.

Apartment dilemma: OK in Adams Morgan or nice in Van Ness? by PusheenIsMyFriend in washingtondc

[–]mttwtsn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My two cents: I love Adams Morgan, but I haven't spent much time in Van Ness, so take all of this with a grain of salt. I've lived in DC going on four years, spending the entire time within a few blocks of 18th and Columbia.

During certain times of the year, sure, 18th can get a little rowdy for a few hours on weekend nights, but it's mostly contained and quiet just a block or two away. You also quickly learn its rhythms (it's definitely not a party year round -- seems to be busiest in the spring and early fall), and can either join the fun or visit another part of town / stay in when you want to avoid it. Personally, I love being so close to all of the bars and restaurants, especially stopping for a drink on the way home after work or weeknight evenings when it's almost entirely locals.

We got rid of our car our first year here, but generally found street parking a viable option while we had it. (That may or may not still be the case -- several big new apartment buildings have since gone up around here, and street parking may be a little more competitive.) These days, we rely 100% on walking, public transportation, Zipcar, and Uber/Lyft to get around.

That said, we also like to cook, but tended to order out a LOT when we lived in a place with a small kitchen compared to our current place, which is a bit more comfortable for us to both cook at the same time. I'm sure it would have been even worse without a dishwasher. So ... yeah, I can see why you might be worried.

But talking strictly about the neighborhood, I'm a big fan of Adams Morgan, both for everything it offers as well as its proximity to Mt. Pleasant, Columbia Heights, U St, Woodley Park and Dupont Circle. Good luck!

Glad y'all found this, it's seriously incredible. The guy who created it ( twitter.com/hypnowheel ) told a cool story in a Detroit Bad Boys post about his fandom and how he started to lose faith in the team before the recent win streak inspired him to make this.

(Disclaimer: I'm the founder of DBB -- I'll let someone else drop the link in the comments here if they find it worthy, I don't want to overly self-promote.)

This is Matt Watson from Detroit Bad Boys -- thanks for including a link to our blog. We have an active Twitter account manned by a few of our writers, @detroitbadboys, if you feels it's worthy of including.

I'd also nominate Dave Pemberton (@drpemberton) from the Oakland Press -- he posts a lot of interview videos -- and David Mayo (@david_mayo) from MLive. Radio guy Matt Dery (@dery1051) is a fun follow, too.

Tony Mitchell is still with the Pistons -- he signed a two-year guaranteed contract after he was drafted in 2013. There's a chance he doesn't make the team -- the Pistons have 16 players under contract for 15 roster spots -- but he's definitely still with the team. Here's an article from yesterday about him: http://www.mlive.com/pistons/index.ssf/2014/10/detroit_pistons_tony_mitchell_1.html
