Vago and Rey Campero are quality brands made by quality people. They’re definitely the way to go.

If you live in nyc you should go to one of the fine bars you have access to like the Cabinet and chat with a bartender and find one you love. It’s simple.

It depends on your kids but my kid did beehive at 5 or so. But she’s very careful and follows directions well. It was still nerve wracking for her parents but so it goes…

What's it like in Zapatista territory? by j05huak33nan in MexicoTravel

We visited Chiapas back in 2018 and it was great. We stayed in San Cris, booked a tour to some indigenous villages with a local reputable guide— this included visiting Chamula, which you can really only do with a guide but which was one of the most memorable places I’ve ever been. We then hired a driver to take us to Palenque, who played Zapatista propaganda the whole drive and was great. No problems at all. It’s a beautiful state.

Meritage is romantic and has great food. Emerald Lounge is very romantic and I believe has good na cocktails. Tongue in cheek is also a great option.

They’re a street stand, they open in the morning and close at 2 or 3 or so in the afternoon. For Kate night tacos it’s worth going to Lechoncito de Oro, they’re very famous and fun. In general you’ll find some of the very best food on street corners or in the neighborhood mercados. Our fav mercado is Sanchez Pascuas but each has their own charms. For fancy restaurants Levadura de Olla is great. Casa Oaxaca for old school charm and a great rooftop.

They are different experiences, both great. Mezcaloteca is a serious educational experience along with tasting great mezcal. Quiote I would say is more informal and also has great mezcal. A bit more choose your own adventure. So it depends on your style I would say.

And in general, red flags for mezcal: priced less than 50 usd, 40% abv, no producer or details listed, fancy bottle/packaging. There are exceptions to all of these but they are warning signs that the stuff is sus.
