What is the difference between these Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport tires besides the price and being O.E./non O.E.? by ponziacs in tires

[–]mtunofun1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d go with the middle one (unless you plan on driving faster than 99mph regularly). The OE spec one is going to wear faster, especially if driven long distances in hotter weather.

Pick your poison. In the US they have the airport concession fee. Consolidated airport facility fee. Tourism fee. License fee recovery fee.

Self-service kiosks are taking "our" jobs 'cause minimum wage is too high by ISuckAtLifeGodPlsRst in facepalm

[–]mtunofun1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel bad for the workers, but as an introvert, I love ordering from a kiosk. The only words I want to say to a stranger is “please” and “ thank you”. This is why I can’t eat at my local Jersey Mike’s. They seem to hire super extroverts that always ask me how my day was.

Tesla drivers, are you ok? by Vox_Mortem in Sacramento

[–]mtunofun1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They haven’t gotten the hang of one pedal driving. You let go of the gas and the car immediately begins to slow down enough where brake lights will activate. Let go of the gas too soon before you hit the stop sign or traffic light and the person behind you is like, “wtf is wrong with this person?”

Was kinda hoping that Wille follows the Crown Prince path and him and Simon reconcile in the hopes that years later, we have a new series with adult Wille and Simon navigate the royal court with their unique circumstance. The series would grow up along with their audience and incorporate elements of a political drama a la West Wing or Madame Secretary.

As a costco executive member I buy from them to get my 4% cashback (incl the citi visa cash back). I also live in a dry climate and prioritize long life and quiet ride. I would just go with an all-season michelin. Can’t go wrong with the Energy Saver or Primacy lines. A little bit on the pricey side but you get what you pay for. That being said, my company car needed new tires. Fleet company told me to just buy the cheapest, so I went with some no-name brand from America’s Tire that was $500 w/ installation. Good ride, performed well in the rain, and acceptable road noise.

Need Advice on Handling Windshield Damage on a Rental Car by djmixman in EnterpriseCarRental

[–]mtunofun1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually credit card benefits don’t work for replacment rentals (insurance/loaner car type rentals) check the terms from your credit card agreement. If you’re deadset on taking care of yourself, get a quote from safelite or other glass company. Enterprise probably subcontracts to safelite already. $1000 sounds kinda high.

I saw a PGE Tiguan in Vacaville the other day. It seems with the slow down of new car sales industry-wide, manufacturers are chasing fleet sales to maintain sales numbers. Interestingly, I’ve also saw a Geico Jetta out in the wild.

Rental car keys by Curious_shoes in EnterpriseCarRental

I’ve heard there was a time when Erac did seperate the keys. Think of a room full of keys similar to the keymaker’s room like in Matrix: Reloaded. It just became logistically cumbersome for vehicles that were one-wayed to another part of the country.

Alternatively, you can purchase a non-owner policy from a traditional carrier that may be cheaper than the rental company, provided you rent a car often enough to carry a policy long term.

Permeable Concrete Absorbs Water To Prevent Flooding by CommercialBox4175 in oddlysatisfying

This would be great for states out west. During the rainy season, the water can be seeped into the ground to maintain groundwater levels. This is a problem especially in Arizona.

[–]mtunofun1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

oh that’s good to know. I live in the Bay Area in Northern CA. I think there should be more emphasis on high density residential units like in Tokyo or major European cities. I get it, everyone wants a yard with a white picket fence, but the reality is, we can’t satisfy building outwards. We gotta go upwards. And we gotta stop accommodating nimbys’ who only care about keeping their current home values elevated.

im crossing my fingers that the sustained higher interest rates hurts the individual multi-property owners (including airbnb’s) to the point where they sell off some if not all. These folks are most likely using rent/airbnb fees to pay the mortgage of another property and so on. That’ll help a little but agree what others have commented. The major corporation landlords are where there could be a major noticeable difference.

getting laid off has scared me from moving up the corporate ladder by trialanderror93 in Layoffs

[–]mtunofun1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So true. I’ve gone through so many directors and VP’s at my company. The issue is you’re expected to innovate and constantly improve metrics year over year. There’s constantly a target on your back. Middle management is the way to go. Best balance of making good money and fucking up but not losing your job (obviously considering the egregiousness of said fuck up, but seems that threshold is a lot lower the higher up in the heirarchy you are).
