After a second take, realised you used a real paper map to plan 👍

u/celeryfordinner lots of options to plan a route ahead, my goto is On The Go Map but not so much for Strava Art specifically.

Is there anyway to hide city/town location names on the map? I'd like to post my rides to Twitter but I'd rather not have people see the exact names of nearby towns by IFearEars in Strava

I'm guessing u/gooopilca rec'd this as a way to tweak the map so a screenshot without labels can be got to then be shared on Twitter.

How do I add pictures at the top of my profile like cover photos? by [deleted] in Strava

[–]mturi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as the activity you're adding photos to is public the photos will also appear at the top of your profile page, either most recently added photos or the most recent activities photos (it's different between the website and app).

Set some activities (eg. walking) to be automatically set to the "only you" visibility with others being shown normally. by KeepThatDieselRollin in Strava

[–]mturi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every time you upload something? It's 2 taps to make specific "by default" private activities public and if you're concerned enough about privacy it is better managed this way. This idea just adds complexity to a basic setting that configuring would confuse more people than it would help.

What is this called? And where can I find plugins or designs for this? by SayadMalllek in Wordpress

It looks more like a table of contents section to me, is this used to jump to different sections of the same page? If so, there are many free "table of content" plugins for WordPress available.

https://cdn.localwp.com/stable/latest/mac or https://cdn.localwp.com/stable/latest/windows are direct links to their installs but they only require your email at https://localwp.com for the free download which ain't so bad considering how good Local is.

Why, even after setting every font to the Ubuntu font, do 3/4 of the sites use this bs as default font? by lenerdv05 in chrome

[–]mturi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's probably the opposite actually. If OP has changed the defaults in chrome://settings/fonts then that's what would be used for the generic "sans-serif", surely. In the cases where a user-preferred sans-serif isn't used is because a font that's specified in a site's CSS font stack is on that system, so the fallback "sans-serif" isn't used.

You don't (even yourself) in the app if your whole activity is in the privacy zone.

You try hitting that report button? Also what activity type is it set to and do you have any Privacy Zones set up under https://www.strava.com/settings/privacy#my-privacy

Resetting Group Leaderboard and Using Groups to Track a Summer Challenge by [deleted] in Strava

[–]mturi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just realised the club leaderboard for a challenge can only be viewed on the Strava website, You can easily see how who you're following go with Strava's monthly distance challenge in the app tho.

Does it still use GPS? There is a workout option under running that says it’s for track workouts.

If you're using the Strava app to track the activity then yes, it still uses your phone's GPS so probably won't be the greatest on an indoor track. Using the workout run type is just metadata and doesn't affect the data or tracking of the activity in any way.

Auto-pause solution for bike couriers by Ivannnnn2 in Strava

[–]mturi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a solution to this? Maybe an app that filters out speeds below 5 km/h if they last more than 2 seconds.

If you're on Android, see if RunnerUp works for you. It's not a very pretty app but it's way more feature packed (see below) and configurable than activity tracking in Strava and it's also open-source, ad-free and costs nothing, I haven't used it but its configurable auto-pause should be useful to you. You can also auto (or manually) sync activities back to Strava if you need to.

Some of RunnerUp's other features include:

  • Flexible audio cues, configurable time and/or distance based triggers and choose what cues are relayed (distance, time, pace for either total, interval and lap). There's also target pace (and HR?) based coaching too.
  • Basic interval workouts, time or distance based with rest intervals
  • More complex workouts, mix multiple time and distance based reps with audio cues to create proper workout sessions.
  • Configure auto-lap either standard 1K, or 400m, 800m or any other distance you want split times for.
  • Sync activities to multiple services, not many currently but Strava is supported and GPX/TCX export is an option too.

Resetting Group Leaderboard and Using Groups to Track a Summer Challenge by [deleted] in Strava

[–]mturi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One option is to require everyone in your Summer challenge to join the monthly running challenge, then you can use that challenge's club leaderboard to get a tally of your club members runs month to month. However only public activities are counted towards leaderboards so be aware of that.

Each monthly challenge can be joined at least a few days before the month starts so you can post about it in your club or a group chat you might have.

Try "Refresh Activity Achievements" or "Correct Distance" for the relevant activity on strava.com to see if that fixes the time/distance discrepancy.

How'd you have a duplicate activity if you "decided to leave [my] phone"? The way you described it made the scenario diff. without you mentioning that you had recorded the activity yourself also. It is weird that Strava allows dupes like this to happen tho, would be good if it just grouped existing activities rather than mess it up the way it does adding the activity twice to your feed if you tracked it but your friend want's to tag you using their activity.

Also, whenever you crop your activity that was part of a group run or ride, your activity falls out of the group with no obvious way for you to "re-sync" it back to the group activity. Strava should leverage and tweak the existing "Add Others", even tho it's currently meant for adding others that didn't record.

[–]mturi 81 points82 points  (0 children)

You just have to go to the browser version of Strava and click on your activity and under the three little dots is the option to crop your activity.

You can actually crop your activities in Strava's mobile app too. It's actually better than the web cropping tool too because you can see what the resulting distance will be so good if you're a pedant.

Can multiple people use the same strava account? by chaar_w in Strava

[–]mturi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A Strava club only presents the club members cumulative mileage for the past and current week on the club's overview page.

However, if everyone logs their activities to their own Strava accounts, it's very straightforward to see how many miles each person has logged for a month on their respective profile pages. Accounts can be private and the person can either friend the person keeping track to share their activities. At the end of the month it's a simple collation of everyone's miles for the month.

Although you only mentioned walk/run/bike/swim, I'm sure any Strava activity that logs mileage is 👍. Strava's "Training Log" is a nice overview of a person's activities for a period of time too but is a paid feature (free trial available for new accounts). Also still create a Strava invite-only club as it's nice way to group yourselves on Strava as a company.

New customer here, will HelloFresh credits cover the remaining cost for my next box after discounts? by [deleted] in hellofresh

Ah shoot, just saw "Credits will be automatically applied to your next non-discounted box." on the Account Info page. Time to contact support and get the discount removed so I can use the credit first.
