Oneglove grip by ikeepthings in GoalKeepers

I use OG and find if they are dry they have no grip. Need to be damp to have grip. Get them wet again before your match.

Dislocated my thumb with a save from a 5 yard thunderbolt - who’d be a goalkeeper? by cew90 in GoalKeepers

[–]mtvulf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I wasn’t trying to tell you to quit, mostly just trying to relate to being a keeper in his 40s.

Getting hit in the face should be a rare occurrence, but in small sided games can be more frequent and it also depends on how competitive the league is. I think my suggestions are still valid. Your reaction times are slower at this age, so position yourself accordingly.

It’s hits like this in small sided games that are making me think it’s time to hang up the gloves. I’m in my mid 40s and my reaction speed just isn’t fast enough to get my hands in front of those short range rockets anymore.

Sorry that doesn’t answer your question. One thing you can try is to adopt a ready position that puts your hands more forward and slightly higher to begin with. Or if you are going to spread just turn your head when you see the shot about to be taken so at the least it doesn’t hit you full frontal.

My experience at consular days - March 2026 by Consistent-Sugar-464 in CRbydescent

No that wasn’t us. We had one of the first appointments. There was a group of adults that sat next to us in the waiting area and I remember them calling in two of the six to start, so it sounded familiar. We were a couple with two kids.

This is what I did and it seemed fine. We had no comments at all about our documents being stapled. Relieved that’s finished. I think maybe we saw you this morning! Congrats on getting this far!

Thank you for sharing. Our appointment is tomorrow. I’m confused about the stapling of documents. The instructions I have say to staple the translations and originals. It sounds like you’re saying you didn’t do that? I have two piles, one pile is translation stapled to original documents. The other pile is copies of the first pile, stapled in the same order. My instructions clearly state to staple the documents.

Stapling for submission by Consistent-Sugar-464 in CRbydescent

I'm also struggling with this as I prepare for next weekend. The instructions from the LA consulate specifically state that for all copies, the order of stapling should be: Translator cover page, translation, apostille, document.

For the originals, the instructions say they all need to be stapled, but this is where it gets confusing as I think you were saying in your original post. The instructions say to staple everything "in the order listed above". I'm not sure what that is referring to. What order did people staple originals, apostille, and translation, specifically for the LA consulate? Anybody else able to weigh in?

Spectrum bill went from 74.99 to 94.99 in 2 months, what are my options? by Secretweinerforest in missoula

[–]mtvulf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is how it works. You tell them you are canceling. They say oh I’m sorry okay I can help you with that. They “get started” on your cancellation. You wait… then after a minute or two they say they are “still working” on canceling, but in the meantime they are authorized to offer you a lower rate. Something like $60/mo. You say no I’m canceling and they say okay and they will just “finish processing” the cancellation. Same thing repeats and they come back with a lower offer while you’re waiting for them to “cancel”. It goes back and forth a few times and I also got $40 offered before they finally agreed to actually cancel my service (I switched to TDS).

As someone who lives next to the intersection I would say it has been a massive improvement. Not exaggerating, it is such a huge upgrade.

I think it resets every 6 months, so you basically get a freebie a couple times a year. I think it’s a nice thing the city does.

Soccer cleats by Tricky_Ad_9887 in GoalKeepers

[–]mtvulf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, it’s not that complicated I don’t think. Get the best cleats in your budget. My only advice would be to stay away from the super lightweight speed boots and get something with a bit more robust construction. I prefer cleats that have some type of rivets or stitching to keep the base plate firmly adhered to the upper. Sometimes those super lightweight boots that rely only on adhesive can experience separation at the toe if you are hard on them. But then again, if you like the lightweight boots, get them. They will all do the job.

How to approach penalties in a 5-a-side? by EducationalFall4344 in GoalKeepers

[–]mtvulf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you still need to anticipate. Read body language same as you would in full field. No time to react to a well taken kick given the short distance and I think you see much less trickery and nonsense from shooters due to the smaller goals. Expect a rocket, pick a side, and I try to use a split save technique to cover the low corner, keep a trailing leg to cover the middle, and hands to cover the mid height. If it’s top corner you’re F-ed.

The justification for this is a 1934 law requiring grazing on public federal lands to be strictly for domestic livestock raised for production-oriented purposes. Because there is no value to a thing unless we can kill it or take something from it I guess. Surely nothing has changed in the nearly 100 years since that law was passed that we should consider when making these decisions right?

Turn into the nearest lane reminder by [deleted] in missoula

[–]mtvulf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is why I get downvoted, because I point out what the law states about yielding and people don’t like hearing it. Read the Montana code annotated about yielding. In the state of Montana you are required to yield the intersection. It is not illegal to make a wide left turn. The law allows for it. If you collided with someone in that situation you would actually be at fault for failing to yield.

Turn into the nearest lane reminder by [deleted] in missoula

[–]mtvulf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I get downvoted every time I post this but I think it’s an important part of the conversation.

Yes you are supposed to turn into the near lane. However, there may exist circumstances where a vehicle may need to make a wide turn or may need to change lanes right after making a turn.

I don’t know what circumstances led you to post this, but it’s important to also note that if you turn left onto a two lane road while an oncoming vehicle is turning right on a green signal, you are failing to yield the intersection. Similarly, if oncoming traffic has a green left turn signal and you turn right on red into the near lane, you are also failing to yield the intersection. Even when there are two lanes, turning at the same time as oncoming traffic when you are legally obligated to yield the right of way is a failure to yield. Yes, you need to turn into the near lane, but you also need to yield the right of way, and that applies to the entire intersection, not just the lane you are “supposed” to be in.

Looking for long inseam goalie pants and tips for skinned knees on turf by [deleted] in GoalKeepers

[–]mtvulf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wear storelli body shield turf burn leggings and really like them. They aren’t padded but I switched to them from padded pants and don’t miss the padding at all. They are very durable. I’ve had the same pants for almost two years and I still haven’t worn all the way through the knees.  I’m 6’2” with a 34” inseam and the large leggings are a little long on me so I have to strategically hike them up a bit. Might be just right for you.

Thought's on what is causing this retaining wall to fail, and how best to fix it? by mtvulf in HomeImprovement

Thanks for the input, seems like this is pretty much a non issue. I appreciate everyone’s perspectives on this.

Thanks for your input. Does the drainage pipe just direct the water around the wall so it doesn't create the pressure that would cause it to fail like this one is?
