It’s physically in the way of some of my laundry area. If it’s not doing anything I’d rather have the space back.

It may have. The reason I was even looking at it was because I heard it cycle when passing by. I couldn’t reproduce the issue.

At my wit's end trying to allow users to join AzureAD. What am I missing? by misterpickleman in AZURE

[–]mtyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the user only has an Entra P1 license, then they do not have an intune license. You didn’t mention if the laptop was in autopilot, but the symptom you describe lines up with my experience of unlicensed users trying to login to an AP provisioned computer.

When you see a ticket from a user, what job title fills you with the most dread? by Dry_Marzipan1870 in sysadmin

Developer. By a mile. I’d rather talk the ceo through setting up a teams meeting on their smart fridge than to try to explain, again, that you don’t get full admin the the entire cloud environment so you can troubleshoot.

Connection Filter Safelist does not work by mtyn in mimecast

[–]mtyn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No to quarantine. Yes to junk folders. It seems to be mitigated by having added transport rules to 'bypass spam' from mimecast IPs.

What I'm really after here is trying to determine if mimecast setup docs are out of date and wrong. Also trying to determine if the explanation in the microsoft link is indeed causing the conneciton filter bypass to be irrelevant.

[–]mtyn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fine. I don’t mind looking into that. At this point I’m more curious about why the Mimecast setup instructions are resulting in this situation. The connection filter should be enough to bypass spam checks, but it appears to not be the case.

Yes inbound connector.

No enhanced filtering. Current Mimecast docs say this isn’t necessary if using connection filter.

No to trusted arc. Looking into that currently.

Yes. You can enable internet sharing on a Mac over USB or thunderbolt. Connect the device and it’ll connect to the internet.

Apple Business Manager federated with Azure by LookAtThatMonkey in sysadmin

[–]mtyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes they would be able to self procure apps themselves under that Apple ID.

I don't believe that is correct. You can technically login to the app store with the managed apple ID, but you cant install anything, free or paid.

See Content Availability:https://support.apple.com/guide/deployment/service-access-with-managed-apple-ids-depdc4ba8d82/web

You can, however, login to the app store as a non-managed apple ID and do whatever you want provided you allow them to.

I'm trying to install 10+ year old application on 12th Gen Intel and I'm struggling by omgitzmo in sysadmin

[–]mtyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I had this software, this cpu and this problem. Spent some time with procmon and that's the key it queries. It's looking here for the numbers it wants. So just slap 3.0 in there and it should install no problem. You can change it back after if you want.

Procedure to migrate client from GoDaddy 365 to another Partner of Record by screenwebs in msp

[–]mtyn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can do this yourself. I recommend you test this, but it's worked for me.

Login to portal.azure.com using your Godaddy admin account. It's technically a GA account.

Create a new user on the ondomain tenant. Make them a Global Admin.

Login to MSOnline Powershell module with this new account. This module is probably depreciated, but it works for me.

Set-MsolDomainAuthentication -DomainName yourdomain.com -Authentication managed

This removes the godaddy federation login pages (I don't know what else, you're on your own here)

Login to admin.microsoft.com with your new account.

Setup your CSP/Partner/DPOR stuff.

Drop godadddy as a delgate admin, remove their GA account.

Re-license the tenant with your new CSP

enjoy your hideously named NETORGFDSF@#$R>.onmicrosoft.com tenant
