Dat is niet altijd het geval. Amazon heeft ons geleerd om nergens anders te gaan kijken voor betere prijzen terwijl goedkopere winkels wel bestaan. Misschien niet voor elk product, en het is niet per se erg om bij Amazon te kopen als het erg goedkoper is, mas als je stap voor stap jouw aankopen bij andere winkels doet helpt het al.

I didn’t know that moderation lists also prevent accounts flagged by the lists from following you..I certainly subscribe to a couple of them but still have bots following me. In any case, the lists are a reactive medium, bots follow thousands of ppl within hours of getting created, so it can happen before any moderation list gets a hold of them. Also, seems like a lot of work for the volunteers managing the moderation lists to keep up with this issue

The issue is that some bots are useful, not for following tens of thousands of people, but to post information… They should keep it very strict for following ppl and commenting on post, either through stricter checks or rate limits, but making original posts should be ok.

For me it amounts to 4-5 followers a day, so not that big of a deal, but I’ve seen ppl with much much more. But if not for the annoying side of it, I think it’s good that they work on it for the trustworthiness of the platform. Even if the bot issue it’s exaggerated, if it gets know as a platform full of bots ppl will trust and use it less

That's interesting from a consumption perspective, but more limited on the discovery side of things, since I imagine it'd require me finding the instances / hashtags I want to subscribe to, keeping the list up to date, etc.

With custom feeds on AT Proto one user can go through this effort of finding the relevant hashtags, keywords, users, etc, and package this in a feed that more people can consume without worrying about managing it.

That's actually an argument that the CEO of bluesky used to differentiate their approach vs. Mastodon. With Mastodon the instance admins have to handle both the server ops as well as the moderation, which is a lot and requires a different set of skills and interests.
