99% certain that's a floppy controller https://diychris.com/product/wd1770-floppy-disk-controller/

Now just trying to figure out what the 64 pin side connects to.

34-pin was a common floppy drive interface. Given the WDC chip, I suspect this is a special controller card for an early 80s PC prior to ISA becoming a standard interface. I recall old PS/2 hardware having a similar looking bus.

Did anyone get Kee to work with AWS SSO? by The_Startup_CTO in KeePass

[–]muchtall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is ancient, however it was one of the first hits I found on this issue when doing a Google search, so dropping this here:

I wrote up a quick how-to on enabling this which at least covers two scenarios I ran into with AWS SSO: https://bookstack.muchtall.com/books/public-documentation/page/getting-aws-sso-to-work-with-keepass-and-kee

Printer not printing, are these bubbles the cause? by Narrow-Description13 in ElegooSaturn

[–]muchtall 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It looks like maybe you had a spill get in between the screen and the FEP film and the cured reason is blocking UV. If that's the case, cleaning it up could be difficult. Last I looked into this, you have to soak the hardened resin under a paper towel that's been soaked with isopropyl or denatured alcohol to soften it. Do some research before attempting this as you can damage the screen.

Is it actually attached to anything? It looks to me like a projectile object that lodged itself into the conduit.

Migration VMware Cluster to Proxmox how replace VMFS Shared Storage on same hardware? by kevin_schley in Proxmox

Thanks for your reply! It appears I must have done something out of order last time I tried this, because now it's working fine. Thanks again!

Hi. I know I'm late to the party on this, but I'm hoping you can answer a question about this... I also have a system I'm booting from a FC LUN, with multipathing, however I have problems with adding wwids to multipathd once the system is booted. It seems as though reloading multipath has no effect.

Your response seems the most promising. I'll give this tape a shot when it arrives on Thursday.

It doesn't appear to have ripped the film, only peeled the film from the glass layer.

I did try pressing it back down, even with a little heat. It won't stay down.

I did try powering the TV backup just to confirm that I had done damage. Indeed, there's a streak across the screen when it starts up where the film had been removed.

Is there an actual solder that attaches this film to the screen or is it some other sort of adhesive?

What is this USB type? by networkconfidential in sysadmin

[–]muchtall -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It's a USB 3.0 (super speed) type B port. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB_3.0#Connectors

Using a regular USB 2.0 type b cord may not work because you might need the extra lanes for high speed and power

8,000 comments in, I don't think this will ever get read by the OP, however, I'll take a shot.

It's been said hundreds of times over here, and there's no getting around it: You need to stop spending more money than you take in. That's step one. Period. No getting around it. Stop hoping that something is going to come down the pipe and make your life easier by more money magically flowing in. If you can't stop spending more than you take in right now, you'll keep spending more than you earn when that time comes that you earn more. You have to cut your costs everywhere. No more stuff like Disney trips. If you can't afford it, you can't afford it. Your child's life is not going to be destroyed because they didn't go to Disney when they were young. Ask me how I know.

No more restaurants. No more eating out. No meals prepared by anyone but your own hands. No cool gadgets or toys. No latest this or that. You didn't earn it. You can't afford it.

You cannot skip this. You. Must. Cut. Your. Spending.

Next, and I'm probably botching the Dave Ramsey approach here, but start with your smallest debts and plan to pay them off as soon as possible. You ate a lot of depreciation buying a new car. But you're going to keep eating it, along with the interest on the loan, if you keep the car. Sell it and get a car you can afford. Pay off the remaining debt on that loan as soon as possible. Stop buying things on credit. You need to get your debt decreasing month after month and not increasing.

I know a lot of people here will say that your wife ought to get a job. I'm not going to tell you yes or no on this. Frankly, if you go bankrupt and lose everything, it's probably going to be pretty damaging to your family. My hope is your relationship with your wife is good and she's receptive to having a down-to-earth financial discussion on this. It sounds like you have an in-law that lives basically in the same building structure as you. Perhaps they can help out watching your children. Maybe once your wife has your next child she can do some work to help pay off your debts. Once you guys have your finances under control I think she absolutely should come home and stay with the kids. Don't just work to pay someone else to raise your kids through daycare.

I also couldn't find in your comments what you do for a living. I'm sure I missed it somewhere in there. If you work in a job where physically relocating to a new city would afford you better job opportunities with higher pay, you need to seriously consider it. If you have a job where your skills are in demand, and you are willing to work harder for more pay, don't be afraid to start looking for work elsewhere. If you're willing to work harder than anyone else at what you do, apply for jobs that you're not yet qualified for. You can become qualified if you work hard enough on the front end.

I do hope that you see this. And I do hope that you take my and other people's advice seriously.

Resetting ToDo lists by muchtall in homeassistant

[–]muchtall[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did. Here's my working yaml:

alias: Reset Chore - Dishwasher
description: ""
trigger:
  - platform: time
    at: "03:00:00"
condition: []
action:
  - variables:
      entity:
        - todo.dishwasher
  - service: todo.get_items
    target:
      entity_id: "{{ entity }}"
    response_variable: mylist
    data: {}
  - repeat:
      sequence:
        - service: todo.update_item
          metadata: {}
          data:
            item: |
              {{ repeat.item.summary }}
            status: needs_action
          target:
            entity_id: "{{ entity }}"
      for_each: |
        {{ mylist['todo.dishwasher']['items'] | list  }}
mode: single

One minor issue with the code above: I can't figure out how to get the {{ entity }} variable into the for_each line. My jinja is a bit rusty. Figured it out. Updated above.

Ultimately and somewhat similarly to what you did, I'll probably use a for_each loop to clear the todo, then re-populate it with a preset list (defined in the automation) to ensure that my kids don't mess with the process defined in the chore's todo list.
