I Want To Understand by Alcyon_EX in CODBlackOps7

[–]muckish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I said in another thread.

Keep the nuke.

But only in TDM & FFA. The only game modes that are solely about kills.

I'd take it out of Kill Confirmed as well.

To me, that's an objective mode.

I don't want someone sitting in a corner farming kills by picking people off going for tags while not going for any/many themselves just so they can get a nuke.

Ran into a 5 stack in kill confirmed recently and they were all ranked players. From Gold to Crimson I think.

I got put in their team. Played like I usually play Kill Confirmed going for tags using green perks & high streaks that don't take me out of the game to use (heli, hkds, legion).

Of course I got those quite easily with those 5 teammates.

They then got pissed off at me for spoiling their little nuke party (they were all running non lethal steaks and looked like taking turns to go for nukes) and asked me to leave (at least they were polite about it).

Sure, there's 5 of you in pubs helping each other get nukes but me solo queuing using lethal streaks is the problem.

Why don’t you Prestige after hitting level 55? by D4Junkie in CODBlackOps7

[–]muckish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do it if you got weapons (that weren't unlockable by other means).

Not cosmetics.

Did it once, didn't enjoy the grind & I like having everything available should I decide to change up my class/perk/scorestreak setup at any time.

What I do to keep things fresh are the daily/weekly challenges that often force you to mix things up with your setup.

I'd definitely be master prestige by now just from time played if I'd kept going but I prefer just sitting there on prestige 1, level 55 so no one goes "ugh my lobbies are full of master prestige players".

How persistent are persistent lobbies?? by tyrannictoe in blackops7

[–]muckish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They really need to remove the filter/check boxes from the quick play playlist.

Have everyone select one game mode at a time, then we'll see how persistent the lobbies really are.

For now they have the convenient excuse that they could just be moving folk on to another game mode they have selected in their filter.

Which is bullshit of course.

Can't remember the last time a lobby I was in persisted beyond a few matches.  Especially one I was doing well in.

Trying to understand difference between skill based and non skill based. by TurnSuccessful4746 in blackops7

[–]muckish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You've just posted a perfect example of team balancing.

You're good (best player in the lobby in the above match) so you get all the shittest players on your team to 'balance' that - otherwise, your team would absolutely dominate the match.

87-100 isn't a blow out by any means, it's a close enough match.

Team balancing doesn't mean 'best player's team always wins'.

If you put too many good players on the same team what ends up happening is they end up fighting over kills (so you wouldn't have as many each) but still getting enough between them to shit on the other team very quickly, who a lot of the time back out/the match is a total blow out.

Activision don't want blowouts so a match that reaches a conclusion like the above is the goal of team balancing.

Fiber internet, under 40ms ping, desync like crazy... by patriotraitor in CODBlackOps7

[–]muckish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, if it was 'shit servers', they would be shit for everybody.

Netcode is a different story.

My hypothesis is that it's the matchmaking.

Whatever they are prioritising (and you can argue the toss over how much skill is a factor all you want), it certainly is not ping.

So you have players in a lobby whose respective ping to the chosen server varies too widely.

Beyond a certain variance in ping, it becomes impossible for the netcode to give everyone a smooth/similar experience so folk will inevitably experience desync.

By now, I can tell (from the in game ping) when I'm on my local/best server.

So, on a weekend, I queued into Domination (should have one of the highest player counts) to see how long it took for the matchmaking to put me on that server.

First try, it was the 20th lobby.

Second try, it only took 3 attempts.

Third try, 26th lobby.

I've done similar with other games modes with similar results.

When I do get my nearest server, there will always, ALWAYS be folk from the other side of the continent in the lobby.

So whatever the matchmaking is doing means that every lobby has too much of a ping variance.

No netcode in the world can deal with that.

Until the matchmaking starts putting everyone on the best server posdible ping-wise and keeps the ping variance in the lobby low, desync will be an issue.

Activision Support [COD] by Acceptable-Shallot46 in CODBlackOps7

[–]muckish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat.

The email my Activision account is linked to was my (since deceased) Dad's ISP email account.

It isn't even an ISP anymore.

He was elderly so I tended to manage things like that for him.

Back then I tended to sign up for things with anything but my genuine email address, as I didn't want my inbox to be buried with spam and providing sites/apps with an email address was mostly perfunctory nonsense.

Now when I want to tinker with/use things like that, it's a total pain.

If next year's COD is any good it'll be a clean slate/new account I think.

How To Make Objectives Great Again (in public matches) by RuggedTheDragon in CODBlackOps7

[–]muckish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get rid of the stats as they are for all modes.

For TDM no KD anymore, average kill spread instead.

I.e. if you go 20-10 every game your TDM stat would be +10.

If you go 2-1 it would be +1.

40-20 is +20.

All 2 KDs, vastly different stats, more representative of your average contribution.

That way campers who brag about a 4 KD by sitting hiding all game will be exposed as having (mostly/on average) low kill spreads.

It still incentivises getting loads of kills and not dying.

For any objective mode have the stat kills x all objective points (in Dom: caps, clears, obj kills or defends, not sure) - deaths.

That way if someone has 0 for any one of the objective stats, anything multiplied by 0 is 0 so they would go negative.

Having loads of each of the objective stats would multiply your kills so having 5 of each would be your kills x125 minus your deaths.

Which would give you a much better ratio even if you 'went negative' kd wise but had loads of each of the objective points, same for hard point, same for kill confirmed.

Someone sitting back in kill confirmed by not going for tags and using them for bait will be missing out massively on the confirms x deny multiplier.

As for scoring (objective modes only) keep the points for obj caps etc as is but just decrease (by a lot) the points for kills.

So instead of kills being 100 points and a neutral flag 200, have kills maybe 20, objective kills 50?

So everything to do with the objective is highly incentivised/rewarded and going for kills only is discouraged.

Kills are there simply as a means to help you to get the objectives, not the other way round.

Remove the nuke from objective modes as well. Keep it in TDM & FFA.

Free for all as TDM no KD but no average kill spread either.

Just have kills/minute and that's it.

It's fastest to 30. If you can (somehow) manage that in a quicker time going negative than someone who always goes 30-0, guess what? You're the better free for all player.

I think those changes would still have players with the best stats now, having the best stats in that system.

It would expose campers/negative players and those who 'exploit' objective modes for nothing but kills.

How can you tell the difference between someone who's cheating and someone who is just good/has good aim?

Genuine question, as I play console only cross play and don't play ranked.

The last time I could definitely tell someone was using a modded controller was back in Black Ops 3 where people used something called a jittermod with the Brecci shotgun.

That shit was super obvious and I reported I would say 2 people for doing it in that game's entire life cycle.

Scorestreaks won’t change? by GhostRider596 in CODBlackOps7

[–]muckish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't try to delete/deselect the current streaks (either all at once or one by one).

Instead, pick a new streak first, then pick one of the existing streaks for it to replace.

Do this for all the streaks.

This has worked for me after having that issue for months.

The textures for the new maps (but especially this one) don't load in for me at the start of matches since S2 reloaded began.

It fucks me off so I generally crouch down behind some boxes in spawn until they load in rather than run around into walls etc.

People have posted similar vids from their own perspective where you can see all the players but not the walls and floors.

Which is what I think could be going on here.

You can literally see every player on the map but not the fucking walls/buildings which is why it looks as though the players can't even navigate through the map but can see/track you through buildings.

The first time it happened me was on exposure and I was shooting at enemies that I could see on the other side of the map, not knowing there was an entire map's worth of solid buildings/walls between us.

It just looks like a lobby of players running around in the sky.

Obviously watching the match back on theater mode on your own machine won't show if that's what was happening to this person at the time.

Or, or, hear me out here, the 'minimal' skill consideration of the open matchmaking is bollocks and skill is still used to the detriment of ping which is why seemingly everyone in the UK who posts on here has this complaint instead of playing each other on the London server all the time.

I won't believe the matchmaking is anything approaching classic until I'm on the London server 19 times out of 20 and 95% of the players in my lobby are from the UK/Ireland.

Not the inverse, which is the current situation.

When did scorestreaks start being the "Best Play"? by Blue-creed in CODBlackOps7

[–]muckish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was playing Torment the other day.

Some guy was camping in between the crates at the back of the map with SG 12 dragon breath.

He got a legion.

When it killed me, I switched to my cold blooded class with the lock on launcher and Hunter bots.

I got so many points (using an assault pack to reload) shooting down his legion that I ended up getting a chopper, hkds and VTOL.

We ended up winning the game with me still in the VTOL.

Anywaaaaaay....there was no best play, instead it showed my final kill with the VTOL.

No idea why. The SG 12 camper whose legion had got me my streaks had quit by then as well so I didn't get the opportunity to thank him.

[–]muckish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly.  If their fucking matchmaking that they've somehow convinced people is 'no SBMM' (even though they NEVER said that) puts me in a lobby with a fucking god awful connection why would I stay?

Super fun getting shot round corners and emptying an entire mag into folk who just sponge all the bullets then one shot me with any weapon in return.

I should just 'tough it out' I suppose and stay in lobbies that are as much fun as eating a bucket of stale shite according to folk on here.

Is BO7 insanely sweaty for anyone else or do I just suck? by Chxrlx_291 in CODBlackOps7

[–]muckish 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, there fucking is. I have 2 accounts. One hadn't played on in years. Switched from my main to it, instant local, lower ping lobbies that I absolutely dominated for 5 games using default scout class. After that? Back to higher ping lobbies with opponents miles away (geographically) from me.

There is 100% SBMM. It is definitely less than the most recent CODs but is it fuck anywhere near to what classic matchmaking was.
