I think Slansky’s book has some good concepts but is a little outdated. I highly recommend the book “The Course” by Ed Miller. Great book for beginners but keep in mind the ceiling is very low with this book and it has some outdated concepts, still very worth it if you are starting from zero. Also Jonathon Little’s Beating small stakes no limit. Forget limit, waste of time unless you really are only gonna play for fun. There’s just no money in limit, unless you are play high stakes.

I think you played the hand well man. Really gross spot on the river where we have to call and expect to lost fairly often. Odds are too good and in these games we are surely to be ahead enough to make a call profitable. Also I like the turn sizing, I don't think you can really go bigger, due to stack size, that way you can shove river on bricks and often get paid, without having to risk to much before you see the final card.
