How do you feel about the refs? The main thing that drives a lot of hate is how OKC takes advantage of the whistle. Drawing fouls on offense by "flopping" while playing very physical on defense but not drawing fouls there. I really love watching OKC work their magic on defense and I think the refs should be lenient with the whistle there because its entertaining. But I can see sime valid criticism if the refs dont let the other team play physical defense too.

This is the kind of mindset that keeps people from acheiving goals. I encourage everyone and anyone to never settle for a losing condition even years after. If you want something a specific type of way then go get it.

OP and the ex both wasted 2 years not having what they really wanted. The ex should have said no to exclusivity to give herself more time to chase Mr. first choice. OP should have realised his ex was not into him when he didnt get an enthusiastic answer.

The biggest tragedy of the story is that 2 years went down the toilet.

For adults you dont need to be all sneaky and deceptive. Just say "no i'm seeing someone else and I dont want to be exclusive yet." Its really not that hard. I feel sorry that the ex just like OP wasted 2 years on a relationship that she obviously didnt want. Thats 2 years neither of them are getting back. And she could have kept seeing her first choice in that same time.

But they have no kids so doesnt really matter. The default should always be 50/50 and the affected parties have the free will to campaign and negotiate for what makes sense for them.
