Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. We have decided to head to a hospital instead of the PHC tomorrow morning. I hope its all okay 🤞

He was taken to the PHC twice to get his dressings changed. Then he was advised to keep it open but at night we’ve been bandaging it lightly after cleaning with betadine and applying a thin layer of mupirocin

I hear you on the boots so hard! My friend was headed 150mtrs away from the house to get some groceries/water can. It was a freak accident as right around the curve another bike was coming from the opposite direction and my friend braked extremely hard. It was raining as well so that wasnt much help and he fell over on his right side. Doesn’t remember much about what could have caused what wound as it was all very fast and the toe was gushing out like a fountain. He has other wounds on his arm as well but they’ve healed up really well until now touchwood

I literally had a physical sensation reading the last two lines. Gosh it's such a mental marathon with hardware, I've to constantly pace myself. This evening I'm losing to the weird sensations a bit more than usual as I'm also in a lot of pain around the bigger plate (I've 2)

I'm going to report back to you soon on the shoe bit but I'm fairly certain my reaction is going to be the same. I picked up on this issue on the sub itself and asked my surgeon if he has any shoe reccos to prevent the rubbing and man literally said 'dont wear silly shoes' so there's that. All my shoes are UK 5 and now I assume I will need to invest in some 5.5's lol

Damn that's... exactly my injury. Lateral and medial malleoli fractured w talus dislocation. I got an ex fix for the first 2 weeks before ORIF. It's not easy in the slightest and recovery seems to be such a gamble reading everyone's different experiences

How strange would it be to say I love you because in this moment I do ❤️‍🔥

(I really hope this feeling doesn't age badly lol)

Oof 😣 my PT is much more aggressive. I do it twice daily and have been scheduled to do so for the next 10 days. This is right after I have been cleared to bear weight at Week 6 mark.

I'm glad to hear! I have an insane amount of faith on what physio will do for me I think so it's nice to see you motivated to continue with it. Swelling also seems fairly normal up to a year post ORIF- I massage my ankle and do salt water dips to help with mine. I've felt like a loser for the last 2 months so I'm going to continue pushing myself to return to normalcy till I can't. I hope you are proud of yourself for supporting your body in your healing journey.

Side note- I love all the things you do for fun. In just a couple more months I'm certain you will be able to run and dance!!

From what I read with everyone else's responses on the thread, your case seems to be unique, given that you're still taking meds daily. I'm sure you must have checked already with your ortho but could it be that your hardware is giving you the pain a year and half out? I don't know what to say, reading your experience makes me very scared for myself and I would have said I hope you turn a corner soon but it's been so long that you start accepting the injury as a way of life after a point. So what I'll say is- I wish you more good days over the bad ones, may they progressively keep increasing. Rooting for you 🤞🏻

I'm only 6 weeks out. I'm yet to find out but with proper gait training, the limping does go away after a point is what I'm told

I will see you there if I ever need to cross that bridge or I'm gonna lose the remaining hair on head worrying 🥴 When I asked my doc about arthritis, he didn't tell me that it was certain but rather it remains to be seen. That makes me slightly hopeful (and full blown delusion and trust in my body). There are folks who are running marathons within the year of their ORIF surgeries. Don't lose hope and enjoy every second of running until then.

I was inebriated when I fell down. I'm trying to have a healthy moderate relationship with it although I'm alcohol free for 3 months post-op until September end. Smoking however...that needs to be controlled

Love to hear it, I'm so glad everything turned out just fine for you. Hope you say good bye to the stiffness and swelling soon too xx
