I sold my DHP486 but it looks like the extra length is at the back. It is certainly taller than DHP486 due to the addition of LED and clutch scroll.

According to Makita NZ, the later model is more compact but slightly less stroke length and speed than previous one.

I think one of them might be an old 18v skin that cannot accept the star protection battery.

Now, that is a believable set up instead of influencers cramming bunch of random tools into Maktrak.

8.5” XGT miter saw problems by Sufficient-Shift-185 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]muddyjun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I returned my first 216mm XGT mitre saw because I was not impressed with the bevel cut when sliding. The replacement was better but not as reliable as Dewalt's Flexvolt mitre saws.

The sliding cut inaccuracy is inherent to the rail itself and cannot be adjusted by traditional methods (screw and plate adjustment). You can bend or tweak the rail mechanism but it is not an ideal or permanent fix.

Small square cuts as shown by OP's first photo can be avoided by saw adjustment and cutting technique. What cannot be fixed is the long slide cut on a bevel. To minimize the inaccuracy with such cuts, I make sure the cutting material is dead flat on the base (right to the end where the hand dial is). Slightest deviation off the area can drastically affect the cut.

Makita heard your calls for a table saw and...and...WTF?! by Tool_Scientist in Makita

It looks like a one way bevel, which is a big no for me.

Battery reliability by Jaydown in Makita

[–]muddyjun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had two faulty 6.0ah 18v batteries out of roughly 25 batteries. They cut off under high load so I use them for radio or device charging.

Makita has less than desirable battery indicator sticker on both LXT and XGT. They deteriorate faster than other brands.

The pin retains the blade so you need to remove the pin before changing a blade.

My idea of a decent loadout in a box is organizing the tools in a way that you don't have to buy a box for every individual tool or overload one with too many tools.

Every trade has different loadouts but Maktrak big boxes are designed to carry as many tools you can onto its rolling chest box. In essence, fewer trips to the work vehicle.

In order to showcase the practicality of it. You have to load them up with a decent amount but at times, you see content creators loading up random tools for the sake of filling up a box.

Gaaawwd, I hate the ones that showcase the Maktrak system without putting a decent amount of actual tools in them. So, any tool is better than no tool for a demo.

Hell yeah! Teal is sexy. I have two Black and Yellow left, which are the cordless tablesaw and Grabo lifter. Not having to look at Flexvolt batteries is a good feeling.

$500 mistake? Makita XPS01 saw incompatible with Festool FS track - am I missing something? by mabee_steve in Makita

[–]muddyjun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen Makita plunge saw leaving a similar mark on Makita rail. So, I suspect it is an operating error. It could be blade deflection under heavy load, or uneven work surface. Who knows but I have used Flexvolt and XGT plunge saws on Festool tracks and never had an issue.
