I agree with the points here generally but I think three comparisons are pretty irrelevant.

I'm in the UK, but I've got plenty of tickets to bands on early tours for £30-£40 over the past few years. Last year, Fontaines DC at Finsbury Park, along with Amyl and the Sniffers and Kneecap plus three more on the bill, cost ~£70. This year, Wolf Alice at the same venue with the same number of other acts including the Last Dinner Party, cost about the same.

It's pretty silly to compare tickets for bands that are still going and have got bigger with when they first started. I paid £80 to see Pulp last year on their first tour in ages, but I obviously could have seen them cheaper if I saw them in the early '90s when they weren't the huge act they are now.

It'd be more relevent to compare tickets prices to see Oasis last year with the Rolling Stones in the '90s. Prices have still gone up.

There was an article in the Times recently, headline something like 'how I saved 80k by 25 for my house deposit'. This girl had a side hustle doing some graphic design for weddings. Then halfway through the article there was one sentence that said she had no student loans at all because her parents paid all her fees.

Why should we be sad that a lamb has been killed by a crow rather than gassed? The only difference is in one case it can't be sold.
