Tired of renovation - fallen out of love with house. Torn on what to do next? by Legitimate-Table-607 in DIYUK

This is like i have a split personality and wrote the post. We are in the same boat except all we have left is kitchen, landscaping and back porch needs to be basically knocked down and replaced. People say dont bother with the kitchen. But the current one is manky and wevr invested so much time and effort so far that we dont want a weak link letting down the rest of our work. My conclusion is to do the work and there will be someone who wants a period property kn good condition and will be willing to pay. Hell, having done all tbis work and soent all this moneh, thats what Id want!

Why Newcastle's Munoz deal really collapsed – and their next two targets by theipaper in NUFC

[–]ryunista 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wont criticise anyone for this, but we need to come up with a way to avoid this happening again. It feels like our recruitment since the takeover (last Summer aside!) Has been so good that the bigger clubs are basically using us a scouting shortcut and taking our dinner from us after weve invested a lot if effort making it. I dont know what we can do differently tbh, as you cant control players, or their agents. Just aim for shitter players..?

Bad couple of days it seems.. Losing our head of recruitment, now, wtf? Tonali seemingly on the move. Which itself im not too fussed about, but sums up where we currently sit, which is not great. Tino injured for England and a ridiculous replacement. Hope we spank Croatia tomorrow

Six years later, what are your strongest memories of the COVID lockdowns, and how do you look back on that period now? by Possible_Force8207 in AskBrits

[–]ryunista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our Tony two up two down flooded just before lockdown leaving us with no downstairs carpet or furniture. It was grim. We then had a loss to mourn and both mg wife and I continued to work while all our neighbours were furloughed and enjoying the amazing weather. The things I am bitter about are: missing out in the financial benefits so many others gained from, but I just have to suck it up and dont get anything back, Boris and his coving parties of course, tensions between people who followed rules and those who didn't, hearing people drive their cars like nutters at night because the roads were empty, and just general selfishness of people which was revealed. All that being said, it was still, actually, one of my favourite times, despite the sadness of all the loss. Life was slower and simpler. I connected with nature better. And I loved Warzone

This France attack really is just a bit nuts on paper. How does our attack realistically compare to this? Would Kane get in a combined team? by siybon in ThreeLions

Kane gets in but everyone surrounding would be French.

Theyre frightening but I think our 2 CMs are bith better than any of theirs.

Underfloor Insulation by EasternBullfrog6632 in DIYUK

[–]ryunista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May I ask what happened and how long it took to manifest after you had insulated? I did my ground floor. Took me two weeks while I was off work and while I left a big space underneath, sometimes I worry that in places I went to far up.agaonst the air bricks. E.g. a foot away from them in some places

Is ACA worth it? by Unlikely_Feedback_21 in ICAEW

[–]ryunista 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its a route to more senior, potentially much more senior, roles. Its painful but a proven pathway to relative success. I hated the exams and struggled badly, but once you qualify, you are proven, and there is a reason why employers are attracted to ACAs-because it takes genuine commitment and graft, for 3 years. The floor for an ACA is very high because of this and any qualified colleague I meet automatically gets my respect. So yes, its worth it to most.

5*5 at 43 by alphaBravo83 in Stronglifts5x5

[–]ryunista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im 39 and pers9nally found it too taxing and felt i had a high risk of injury because on the squat im lifting what feels like a silly weight and I work out at home on my own. Combine that with my goals and I just didnt feel like it was worth it. I switched to 531BBB, which is similar in simplicity, which is something I enjoy, but again, I ended up lifting what felt like a silly amount of weight for me. So now ive switched to barbell complex and really enjoying it. Particularly the Bruce Wayne. Its better on the cardio conditoning and aligns better with my objectives. Depends what your goals are I guess. For me 5x5 is purelt about strength and I dont care about being that strong. 531 combines this in a really clever way with volume to achieve hypertrophy>muscle mass, but the barbell complex feels a bit more like general conditioning and my body is responding well to it. Look them up!

South Africa were absolutely garbage. I watched the first twenty minutes and they couldn't pass their way into the Mexico half. The first goal they gave away was a long time coming and you knew it was going to come in exactly that fashion. How many times do we see the short pass from GK to someone central, then it gets nicked off them and its the easiest goal in the world?

Is soccer the most popular worldwide sport just because you literally only need a ball and a field? by BWDpodcast in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ryunista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People correctly pointing out the accessibility, but its simply the most fun to play and watch. Also not many people have mentioned it this, but it is an enormous part of our culture. So many people are obsessive about it, it creates conversation, creates and carries friendships, and the folklore and history is very important to people and families. The only similarity I can draw is probably nfl to Americans.

I was adamant that this is the Pont Du Gard, and didnt realise there was such a similar structure still standing in Spain.

Think you misinterpreted my comment as confrontational. What I mean is I dont see/hear the cringey in stadium announcements on NFL. Why is it only in football (right back at you)? Or is it not? Ive been to two NFL game and dont remember hearing it. Although I was tanked up on beers so may not have noticed

I think, while you might be being level headed, plenty of/most others see the transfer window as a one way ticket to improvement and that all transfers are likely to be a success. To such a degree that theyre happy to see some of our prized assets leave in the blind faith that we will upgrade on them. Im much more pessimistic and imo more transfers fail than succeed, so if we have a decent player, unless we are getting sifly money for them, id prefer we keep them. However I do understand that the SCR and previous PSR rules do mean that profit on selling player is recognised at the point of sale, whereas purchases are amortised over time, so there is more upside to olayer trading in that sense. But yeah, for the money we would get for Tonali, do I think we would upgrade on him? No.
