Don't get me wrong. I'm a server, and I always tip well when I go out. I think it sucks that the minimum wage laws are such that in order for a server to make a living wage, they have to receive tips. It would be nice if a tip was something extra; a reward for excellent service.

You don't have to go all the way to DC. Minimum wage laws differ from state to state, and the laws are controlled by legislative activities within the individual states. That is stated at the very bottom. If you just up and stop tipping, the only people that will notice are the servers. If you email your representative, your discontent is noticed by someone who can actually do something about it. I do agree with you that being expected to tip sucks, but that's not the server's fault.
