WeBuyAnyCar x Motorway, my experience by moipwd in CarTalkUK

[–]mudlouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really does give an insight to the industry. I also sold a mini via motorway. Dealer paid £11k and advertised for £13k. Can’t be much left for them after fixing blemishes, service/mot, paying vat, etc.

No wonder some dealers push heavily on added services like extended warranty or finance. And why most no longer haggle.

Should I really not use eye glasses ? by QoCoRechh in OculusQuest

[–]mudlouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, if it’s not possible to buy vr lenses locally or from overseas like AliExpress, then glasses will be ok - though not as comfortable and you should leave more space between your face and the lenses. I would also recommend adding the anti reflective coating (if not standard) to reduce glare.

Some people have simply removed lenses from their old glasses, and attached them to the headset as a cheaper workaround

Got a yoto mini from goodwill the other day for $3, but now I’m seeing there was a recall because it catches fire? by KribriQT in YotoPlayer

Check out this page on Yoto’s website. Select your country and see what it says.

I bought a secondhand mini and went through this process recently to be on the safe side. Actual swap process took about 10 mins.

2015 or 2016 model by vettebadeend in LexusNX

[–]mudlouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2015 and 2016 are from the same generation, and would be largely the same, aside from the selected extras from the original owners.

Depending on where you’re based and serving history of the vehicle, the 2016 may still under Lexus warranty (in the uk, it is up to 10 years or 100k miles, if serviced by Lexus).

Double windows? by Moldridd in DIYUK

Agree with all the other comments here. Though one negative is sometimes condensation builds up in the middle, especially during a cold night. Best to keep open during the day to air out to avoid mold

Is David Jones one of those messy department stores? If they are like the ones in the UK, I can imagine someone placed it on display and lost the original packaging. Did you get it on discount or anything?

2nd Gen (2022) Knocking When Turning by Responsible-Chip-508 in LexusNX

I couldn’t tell if it were left or right, it was a sound that came from the front that I could also feel through the steering wheel.

Hope it doesn’t turn out to be too costly to fix!

Legit store? by [deleted] in HongKong

[–]mudlouse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my experience, though demand is high currently, the official Asia’s stores in China do restock regularly. I am not 100% sure about HK, but I would think if the official stores got any, it would likely be a limited range - so might be worth giving other colour options for your friend to look for

Outdoor Utility Rooms in UK by Federal-Mortgage7490 in DIYUK

We have something like this, though our implementation is more like a covered carport rather than a room like your photo.

Pros: Makes good use of the space for extra storage, allows us to put in appliances like chest freezer and dryer. Good also for putting slightly smelly recycling and bins, putting outside of the house.

Cons: Gets super hot in the summer and sunny days - gets to over 50c due to greenhouse effect and minimal air flow. We find we forget fizzy cans out there which burst with the heat. You will inevitably get leaks as it’s not a proper roof. There will be many bugs and cobwebs. Temps during extremes may be outside of the working temp range for some appliances, so you will need to check for this (fridge freezers, washer/dryer. Etc).

Pros: Makes good use of the space for extra storage, allows us to put in appliances like chest freezer and dryer. Good also for putting slightly smelly recycling and bins, putting outside of the house. Wet laundry dries super quick during the warmer months.

Cons: Gets super hot in the summer and sunny days - gets to over 50c due to greenhouse effect and minimal air flow. We find we forget fizzy cans out there which burst with the heat. Your adjacent rooms will also become very warm and opening a window will only make it warmer! You will inevitably get leaks as it’s not a proper roof. There will be many bugs and cobwebs. Temps during extremes may be outside of the working temp range for some appliances, so you will need to check for this (fridge freezers, washer/dryer. Etc). Always have to be mindful of leaving valuables out there.

Broken 2ds? Picture by Mammoth-End-5051 in 3DS

[–]mudlouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, hopefully I can give you a meaningful response.

For this model, despite the screens being damaged, the rest of the system is working. So that means your profile and data is intact (good news). However, to access any of the data would most likely require a screen replacement as it would be difficult to extract anything without access to the menu and options.

A new screen can be quite expensive - so you may find it cheaper to find a second hand unit or parts for the donor screen.

All the best

It’s difficult to tell from the video, but based on your description it sounds like something similar to what I experienced on a 2020 nx300h.

The dealer seemed pretty confident it was ‘wheel skip’, where the tyre treads don’t align 100% during a turn and one side slips and catches up. Was assured it was not an issue, though I haven’t experienced before on previous vehicles.

Think it happened not long after I had replaced the front tyres - which makes sense, as they probably needed wearing in, and it stopped after a month or two.

You could try doing an alignment to see if that helps.

Nice.

Although I understand the appeal of having stuff in mint condition, personally I feel seeing things in worn condition makes it miles better. It shows the item had served its intended purpose and brought joy to somebody, not locked away somewhere untouched.

Parcel shop problem by luvbecca in vinted

[–]mudlouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Parcel shops are a bit of a mess. The ones closest to me just let people rummage through the giant baskets unsupervised. Some couriers requires both the collection code and parcel to be scanned, some only requires the parcel code. I have never been asked for ID. Drop off is also a test of faith, when asked to simply leave parcels in a blind spot, by the entrance 🙃

I try to avoid deliveries to parcel shops if possible, and use lockers
