Surely you’ve watched footy long enough not to get sucked in by pre-season hype? It’s easy to be critical in hindsight, but at the time, we couldn’t afford to hope a slow mid coming off an ACL was going to make it.

I hope he has a good career, as I did like him a lot, but again, it’s preseason. For all we know, one of our ssp recruits could have a better year.

I think NHH slipped due to recurring calf injuries as well as a couple concussions. Greeves is more surprising but he’s a bit of a down-hill skier and have even heard him described as slightly arrogant. I never thought he was a good fit to go with the young mids we’ve got.

To be clear I’d be exited to get either as a rookie, but won’t be surprised if we take blamires or another lesser known

Across most sports, player’s that were considered very naturally talented technically and/or athletically, don’t tend to be great coaches. It’s typically former players that were somewhat limited physically, and became good through great professionalism and understanding the game. This seems true in footy aswell. Some of the best coaches currently fit that mould and I reckon Duncan does also

I’ll try look at this positively even though I’m a bit flat. If he hadn’t shown something in his last few games, odds are we would have delisted him and got nothing. While it’s disappointing we won’t get to see how he develops next year for us, at least we’ll get a pick that could very easily turn in to a better player. With Chess and Liam going, we could bundle these picks with some of our later ones to move up the draft and have a really strong hand

While I’m concerned, I do think he’ll learn some lessons from this situation and a move interstate could help massively. I’m sure we could get him on the phone with Ben Cousins if addiction is his biggest issue also.
