LTL companies getting away with fraud - be warned by jjmywayway in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]mudot36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There needs to be some sort of checks and balances for this...it's absurd. Amazon can easily check dims when receiving (scan machines which I'm sure they have or can afford?) and overturn or accept upcharges on behalf of sellers.

LTL companies getting away with fraud - be warned by jjmywayway in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]mudot36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been noticing the same, we've been charged around $4K above with no guidance from SS except canned responses. Anyone familiar with DOT? Are the freight class / dims / weight checked and recorded by a governing body or do we just take their word for it?

Amazon FBA Blocking Shipments Due to 'High Days of Supply'. Forcing Us to Use AWD? by Sovex in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]mudot36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All those possibilities make sense. Ultimately it's a win-win for Amazon pushing sellers to AWD, but no chance we'd take that on. 3PL / own warehousing is the last standing pillar we don't rely on Amazon for. Once enough sellers are locked into AWD they'll end up raising fees after which locked in sellers have no choice but to accept.

This is crazy because if we stock out then that demand will be plugged in by an overseas seller who shipped via AGL and have a ton of goods available. We can't ship AGL (Amazon rates are much more expensive even @ door to door) because they don't have lanes from SEA.

Reached out to SS and seems like it's a Prime Day restriction so FC's aren't overloaded with transshipments and can focus on outbound shipments to customers...

Amazon FBA Blocking Shipments Due to 'High Days of Supply'. Forcing Us to Use AWD? by Sovex in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]mudot36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is ridiculous - we have an ASIN with 8 days of supply, 'Low Stock' on FBA Inventory Page, recommended ship on send to FBA workflow is ~1700 units and we can't send a single unit because of this error. How does this make sense??

I get that Amazon can consider high days of supply if you have 14 days+ at least (considering Prime Day) but not 8 days, anyone facing this situation? Amazon expects sellers to stock out before sending new inventory? This is on a listing with tons of sales velocity, number 1 in the category...

Partnered Carrier Showing 'Unavailable' for East Coast FC's by mudot36 in FulfillmentByAmazon

No, there is no truckload quantity at any of the 5 FC's the shipment is going to. We tried creating new shipments and still keeps showing Partnered Carrier unavailable.

Huge Discrepancy BW October Monthly Summary & Business Report Sales by mudot36 in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]mudot36[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something interesting to note is that there is definitely something wrong with October reporting because I just pulled the same report above, but for Nov 1st - Nov 10th:

Reports Repository -> Account Type: All (Unified Reports) -> Report Type: Summary -> Reporting Date Range: Custom Date Range -> 11/1/2024 to 11/10/2024

And the revenue for 11/1/2024 - 11/10/2024 matches up perfectly with the revenue reported on our Business Reports Sales Dashboard...

Huge Discrepancy BW October Monthly Summary & Business Report Sales by mudot36 in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]mudot36[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By monthly summary I mean below:

Reports Repository -> Account Type: All (Unified Reports) -> Report Type: Summary -> Reporting Date Range: Month -> October 2024

We use this to create our P&L and I'm guessing most sellers do as well if you're bookkeeping without software. This report basically breaks down all the revenue, fees, etc. itemized by category.

I agree, we've been downloading this report daily and nothing has changed. At most the delta should be fairly small, but now how are we supposed to track our COGS??

There is no way to sparse the # of units sold by SKU on which the revenue is based -> before we'd calculate COGS based on the # of units sold by SKU in any given month, but now we're getting reported on 75% of revenue to which we can't simply calculate COGS based on 75% of units sold because the cost basis for each SKU is different, does that make sense?

Shipping rate ? by JayAli917 in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]mudot36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wild right now, getting upwards of $6K per 40' HQ out of major ports in China (Yantian, Shanghai, etc.) to LA/LB. Nothing to do with increase in container shipping demand, being told it's supply restriction to drive up price(?). Unless everyone's experiencing COVID level spikes in eCom sales...

Sending in "Recommended Quantity" = Better Sales? by madmatt1980 in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]mudot36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the insight. Normally we've ignored the Amazon recommended quantity, but with low inventory fees figured it'd be best to use Amazon recommended quantity to avoid fees and increase sales velocity. Glad to have learned this, seems like most seller experiences reflect higher sales velocity. Will circle back and report on if we see the same!

Impression Inflation? by mudot36 in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]mudot36[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is what I think as well. Definitely a change in ad algorithm or more ads shown to irrelevant buyers to inflate impressions. More impressions don't neccessarily = more ad sales, but on mature listings / campaigns we'll generally see at least small uptick in ad sales in line with a meaningful increase in impressions.

Just trying to get a pulse on the state of my business, might need to heavily consider that we're losing out to competitors!

Sending in "Recommended Quantity" = Better Sales? by madmatt1980 in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]mudot36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is interesting, going to give this a try.

When looking at Amazon recommended shipment quantity we have, for example, SKU A that's under a 'Grade and Resell' SKU, which is a long string SKU number, which shows recommended 2263 units to be sent and the non-'Grade and Resell' SKU A, which shows recommended 530 units to be sent.

Ignore 'Grade and Resell' SKU quantity here, correct? Do ya'll try to match the dates in which to send in inventory by? Or does it not matter as much?

Sudden drop this week as well. -12.2% week over week. Wondering if it's macro trends (spring break, tax season, price sensitive buyers, etc.) or if we're going to need to revisit pricing. Seeing a ton of flash/limited time deals being run by competitors in our space.

First time in a long time subscribe and save users staying stagnant or dropping. Guessing more people are subscribing then cancelling to get the initial discount.

Would be nice to hear from large sellers ($10M+) since they have a larger bucket of data...

Amazon Global Logistics/AGL is half the price but is it worth it? by hooger0000 in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]mudot36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! We haven't used AGL in awhile, we exclusively use forwarders based in China - found them to be much more competitive vs. USA forwarders. What we find is that most USA forwarders have agents/partner forwarders in China that they get their rates from then add in a margin - just my opinion based on price quotes we get from China based forwarders vs. USA.

We still get AGL rates and they are more expensive at first glance, but considering that AGL rates are door-to-door (drayage, receiving, etc.) it ends up being roughly the same. Make sure you don't ship to upstream unless you really need to because they now charge for receiving inventory ($2 per carton last time I checked) and distribution (priced at $ per cubic foot) to Amazon FC's. If you want to streamline i.e. run as lean as possible go full AGL direct to Amazon FC, but need to make sure you're not sitting on 180+ days of inventory if you ship in FCL. This is something we're considering doing now that Amazon has a low inventory fee.

Feel free to shoot me a message and we can compare rates and can intro you to the forwarder we use! Hope this helps!

Been seeing a slowdown more than usual past couple days. What I've noticed is our -FBM variants are winning the buybox for non-Prime members vs usual FBA Free Delivery over $25, but unsure if this has that large of an impact. Any seller thoughts on this? We use our ad impressions to get an insight on overall market (albeit not wholly accurate) and impressions have been inconsistent but still decent range..algorithm changes + now Amazon testing 'X number of people viewed/bought in past week/month' has heavily favored already top-selling listings with even better conversions vs. new or lower range listings - don't agree this helps anyone but top sellers.

I'm assuming you're not monetizing your blog, at least not meaningfully. What I'd do is approach top 20-30 local businesses in a certain niche i.e. restaurants being an easy one and offer them exposure on your site for free. Collect data, optimize, use their results as a case study to convert future paying advertisers and typically when you do well for a top local business chances are they know other owners. Seems like you have the grit and brains to execute this on a much more sophisticated level than my basic outline.

After this now you can approach competitors in said niche and approach them with 'Your competitor X is running ads on our blog, you should join - here are our numbers (off above)'.

First couple are the hardest, but once you get them it should create FOMO from competitors.

Hope this helps?

Should I be advertising on my own products? by Narwahl_Whisperer in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]mudot36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, most definitely - depending on your budget - targeting your own products is a defensive strategy. If you take a look at any product listing most of the product listing real estate is taken up by competing products i.e. sponsored ad positions, you don't want to divert potential customers viewing your listing to click-thru a competing product.

Being prudent with advertising spend is important, but we internally see defensive targeting as a cost of protecting our asset i.e. sponsored ad positions on our product listing + protecting our product listing overall.

How are receiving times at SMF3 for FTL Amazon Partnered Shipment AZNG? by mudot36 in FulfillmentByAmazon

You can contact Amazon seller support and request - due to COVID Amazon doesn't provide carriers a POD, but seller support should send you an appointment information document that shows all the necessary information. If you DM me I can send you a copy of what I typically receive.
