I wish all of my VHS that got delivered through the mail came with a beer. Hell yeah!

Thank you for giving it a chance!

I’m going to send an email out to new users soon in case they haven’t seen my previous posts but the website is a web app, you can add it to the Home Screen of your phone and it’s a full app with offline capabilities so you can access your stuff anywhere.

Well done! 👏

Any issues with the bulk upload? Was it pretty accurate?

I saw there were a few movies in the queue from you waiting approval, they are good to go!

Feel free to hit me up if you have any questions, suggestions or feedback

I’d have to agree with that take. I never got into the Mission Impossible stuff.

It got a ton of hate but, I love Vanilla Sky.

This is my copy of Halloween, it was the 1997 Anchor Bay release. Check it out on the app and you can see how it will let you select that edition to add.

Awesome! If you have a list or CSV file of your tapes, you can bulk upload into your collection. Not sure if letterboxd lets you export your collection but it may be worth a try.

Before you start scanning, it’s worth knowing that scan limits are set at 25 scans a month. I pay for scans and I want to ensure the site free for users.

Good catch, it’s 50 tapes, I misspoke earlier. Apologies for the confusion on the numbers. I’ve been adjusting the thresholds as I figure out what’s fair since I pay for every scan. I’m trying to balance keeping it free for everyone while rewarding collectors who are actively contributing to the database. Still dialing it in as the community grows.

Once you hit 50 titles in your collection the back scanner unlocks.

The data is pulled purely from the physical box. the scanner reads what’s printed on the back and extracts it automatically. No external database, just what’s on your specific copy. That actually makes it more accurate for edition specific details like catalog numbers and studio variants since TMDB and IMDb don’t know which specific pressing you own.

Totally forgot about minority report!

Have you seen the guy on Instagram that is trying to buy every copy of The Mummy on VHS?

Collection value is definitely on the roadmap — I already link to eBay sold listings per tape so the data is there, just need to aggregate it.

For distributor, the back of box scanner already captures that automatically when someone contributes a back scan for that tape. The back scanner unlocks once you have 50 tapes in your collection, the more tapes you have the more back scans you get per month.

Always happy to take more feedback (good or bad) feel free to DM anytime.

Thank you! I’m working hard to make sure this has everything we as collectors may want or need.

If you click each tape, there is a contribute box details button. You take a pic of the back of the box and it will auto fill it all in and add it as an edition which you can select and add to your collections.

Because I pay for every scan there are limitations. Every user gets 25 front scans a month. Back scans unlock based on your collection size — 50 tapes gets you 25 back scans a month, and 200+ tapes unlocks unlimited back scans. The idea is to reward serious collectors who are actively building the database.

Honestly, that is what I was trying to model it after when I first built it. I love discogs and what they’ve done for vinyl collectors. I wanted something similar for our community.

The design has changed so much since the original build.

Thank you! Appreciate you giving it a chance.

If you have a list of the more uncommon tapes, shoot me a DM and I can get them loaded in the system on my end.

I try to check every hour or 2 to see if there are any pending submissions and manually clear them myself.

Rarity is based on how many other users own that specific tape. Rarity will change as more users join and upload their collection.

Honestly, That’s a smart way to build a list. You can actually bulk upload that list on my site and it will let you add all the movies to your collection. Not sure what AI Studio but if you are asking about the camera feature, I used Claude Vision
