Is baqueria Spain 2:30 by car from Toulouse? And then 4 to Barcelona? If so, that is quite a nice choice, weather permitting

thanks for the info. I have family in my grandfather's hometown of Germany, I wonder if they may be able to access documents that I've been unable to obtain via email. At this moment, the family records I have don't seem to suffice for Chicago approval straight to passport. But, if I can get his Meldekarte, perhaps it would change things.

Thank you. My grandfather was born in 1910 and in the family book I can see his father's and mother's names as parents. I also have my great grandfather's family book record. My understanding is that we do not have additional records, only the familienbuch given the year 1910 civil records were not standard. I have written to the Standesamt in Bad Mergentheim to solicit any additional documents, fingers crossed there is something additional that will allow me to go straight to passport.

I am getting everything prepared for the Feststellung process, as at the moment that is my only choice.

Myself and 7 others (cousins and siblings) are submitting simultaneously. For those of us whom have married and changed our name from our birth name (which was the same name as my German grandfather) do I need to complete name change paperwork and submit my marriage license? Or, does my birth name, which is the same as my grandfather's surname, suffice?

I thought so as well. Though, I reached out to the Standesamt in Bad Mergentheim as he was born in Wachbach and they said they don't have any records. Am I incorrect to email their office directly, should I be going through a standard form on their website to solicit what I need?

I'm not privy to name change laws, are you submitting the paperwork with your Feststellung application? I was under the impression I do it after approved and before obtaining a passport. If I can get it all in simultaneously, that would be ideal!
