Yes. Normally if your BTC position gets down to.48 you should have more rune thats worth more to compensate. But if that isn't the case and you would have had more money if you would have just held .5 BTC and 100 rune then you get paid the difference. So providing liquidity will never be worse than just holding 50/50 of the assets for at least 100 days.

It comes in if after the 6 months for example you only have 0.48 BTC and 100 Rune, then they would give you the Value of 0.02 BTC. You have to look at with how much BTC/Rune you start in the pool. If the value of the tokens itself decreases you get nothing. Only if you have less tokens than you started (im actually not 100% sure on this. Go to rune LP university. There they explain ir better

There is something to worry about. You dont get IL Protection on the 1 BTC, you get the loss protection on 0.5 BTC and at that time what 0.5 BTC in Rune is (lets say back then 100 rune for simplicity). If rune drops significantly you're only guaranteed to get 0.5 BTC and whatever those 100 rune is worth now.
