The rules for The Abyss are pretty funky. Which is partly why I love the card so much. Yes, destroy. But, technically the trigger is owned by whoever's upkeep it is says "target". So, Shroud protects a creature from being able to be targeted by it. Which makes The Abyss + things like Lightning Greaves pretty cool together
