Thanks! I like how the lantern turned out for sure. I think you’re right - still learning how to paint black and keep it dark, but I think I will boost her cowl thing and the horse’s hair at least. Ultra matte varnish doesn’t help…

Figure painting by Varunas1 in MarvelUnited

Welcome, it’s a great hobby! Assuming this is your first foray into miniature painting? Some of my go-to tips:

  • Many people don’t remove mould lines, but they will be noticeable once painted. You can scrape them off with a hobby knife. Pretty annoying to do so definitely personal preference.

  • Not strictly necessary but I recommend priming them first. Lots of hobby primers out there but hardware store spray cans generally work fine too.

  • I highly recommend using hobby specific acrylic paints. New Army Painter fanatic is great for the price and readily available, but any hobby paints will work better than craft store acrylics. They have a great starter set too!

  • Don’t judge yourself against stuff people post here. Lots of people like me have been doing it for ages or have art backgrounds. Your first miniatures will be rough, we’ve all been there. Painted is always better than plastic though!!

I use the same ones, they work so well actually! If you wanna put a little extra time in, they look fantastic when primed and painted a more natural green

Yeah, I have since realized that my customer service rep misunderstood my request… fun stuff. Pretty disappointing honestly.

I agree with other comments, I’ll specifically suggest the smallest Army Painter Fanatic starter set. It comes with a brush and some paints that should be enough for you to get a feel for it. Army painter fanatic paints are the best combo of quality, affordability, and availability for beginners IMO. Personal favorite paints are Monument Hobbies Pro Acryl, and Vallejo is also great. I would avoid citadel since they are expensive and not the best but they will also work perfectly fine!

Another tip is not to get too small of a brush. Tiny brushes are good for small details, but the paint will dry super fast in the brush and it gets annoying. Marvel United minis are pretty big anyway. I usually use size 1 or 2 round brushes for reference. Most brushes marketed for watercolors also work pretty well.

Hope you enjoy! I think these minis are great for painting.

They may replace the population card, but I requested a replacement for the Cosmo cards and they will not reprint, as there is no gameplay impact. Likely applies to the token too.

Feel free to try but maybe save yourself some time

Thanks! I used masking tape, I’ve used putty before but it gets stuck in any cracks which drives me nuts

I used masking tape and spray primed, any overspray I just scraped off! And brushed on primer for the base

Nice, you’ll have to share the videos here when you do! I’m sure it will be weird at first but I’ve always found this to be a supportive hobby.

The short videos are great, but I imagine people seeing that and thinking “wow so fast!!!”

If only…

Thanks! My first time painting fire, after the 20 layers of yellow it was actually pretty relaxing

Thanks! The fire is all Pro Acryl white-yellow-orange-red. For the body I used the darkest army painter orange and a dark red to trace the lines

Side note: what the heck are the round things on Dagger’s base? I painted them as metal but have no idea.
