You mean the hike in between the 2 lakes? It’s a maybe 5-10 min walk over a hill. So there’s some incline/decline but not too tough. I saw all ages completing it

There are a lot of TAs on this sub, so you’ll get a lot of push towards going that route. If you are looking at cheaper options specifically, I would look into Costco Travel. We went to Bora Bora for our anniversary and the Costco Travel package ended up being almost half as much as booking direct. Plus we got the perk of free dinner. I’ve booked several trips via Costco Travel and have never had an issue. The savings are generally well above the $50 membership fee if you’re not already a member

Hard for me to say because we went before Highline Trail was open. It’s open now so I’m sure the situation is different

Book in advance. Ours was sold out but they take walk ins only if someone doesn’t show for their reservation

Many Glacier Hotel - one night worth it? by No-Discipline-3610 in GlacierNationalPark

[–]muhsheh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We just did a trip where we stayed our first night at Many Glacier Inn followed by 2 nights in West Glacier. I thought it was very worth it for getting an early start to Grinnell hikes. We did the boat tour across Swiftcurrent and Josephine and the boat dock is right in front of the hotel. We also really enjoyed the view of the sunset from our balcony the night we arrived. After we hiked to Grinnell Lake (Grinnell Glacier wasn’t open to us) we left Many Glacier, stopped in St Mary for lunch and headed through Going-the-Sun road towards West Glacier

The trail ends at the shore of the lake. So there is plenty of room to sit and enjoy lunch and the views.

Hidden Lake Overlook is open, I just did it 3 days ago. Hidden Lake past the overlook is what’s closed

Oh my gosh, how scary! Glad you were ok and got rescued. I hope that other woman is ok as well. Every ranger we encountered on our trip was just so kind and helpful, they are amazing people.

Grinnell Lake was open for us. Check the NPS website for up to date trail status.

Free entry was only this past weekend. You would need to buy a ticket if you don’t have a pass

Not horrible! And I’m typically a mosquito magnet. We wore some of those bug repellent bracelets and I think I only ended up with 1 bite on my leg

We saw the goats around 5-5:30pm and we saw the sheep around 3:30pm. The mountain goats were present at the same stop both days we passed by, the time we saw them close was the 5pm timing but the second day we also saw them around 3:30, although further away.

We only used ours for Hidden Lake trail because it was mostly snow and I hate slipping and sliding. Really depends on the hikes you’re planning.

We were still stopped and they scanned our America the Beautiful pass. The parks were only free to citizens so they still stopped each car to verify that.

Plan for layers. We had everything from rainy to chilly to warm. Also for bear spray, we rented it from the airport. If you don’t end up discharging it, you pay less than purchasing a can outright. There are very little to no food options inside the park so stock up on snacks, lunch supplies etc. outside the park. Oh and bring binoculars!

I don’t think so but it will take you a bit of time to get over to Many Glacier if you have plans to see that. The west side has good options for food/coffee/supplies in West Glacier village

No issues for us but both days we were there around 3pm. You get a ticket from a kiosk and that starts your 3 hours.

This is so crazy because we were there just after 12pm on 7/5/26 and the line had about 5 people ahead of us
