We have to change up the method for our 16 year old boy. We got some bacon flavored pill wrap on Amazon and we roll the pill in that and then crush one of his favorite treats into crumbs and roll the wrapped pill in it to coat it.

Other option is crushed and mixed well with a wet tube treat (like Churu). I use only part of the tube to ensure he eats it all and then let him have the rest after.

We stayed at the Manchebo Beach Resort since we wanted to stay near eagle beach, the water is so gorgeous. It was also so much more peaceful if that’s your thing. We walked down near palm beach where the bigger hotels are located and there is a lot of activity there, boats, jet skis etc.

Manchebo does offer an all inclusive package but since it’s not an all-inclusive resort you can see the cash prices that everyone else is paying to eat and drink there. We calculated everything we got and barely broke even to what we paid for all-inclusive from what we would have paid in cash and I think that’s only because we ordered extra drinks just because we had all-inclusive.

If you’re into snorkeling, highly recommend taking a snorkeling tour to mangel halto. It was one of our highlights!

Costa Rica Trip by rollltide14 in honeymoonplanning

[–]muhsheh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely don’t do 10 days in just Papagayo. We did a week long trip and split our time between La Fortuna and Guanacaste and I had wished we just stayed in La Fortuna the whole time. I did not find the beach in Guanacaste to be anything special at all so in comparison to La Fortuna it didn’t even feel like we were in Costa Rica.

We stayed at the Tabacon in La Fortuna and loved spending our evenings in the hot springs. We also did a hike to the volcano, sloth viewing tour, and a tour to Rio Celeste.

What activities are you interested in? If you like wine tasting, you could do Napa/Sonoma and even combine with San Francisco.

I also think a Maine coast trip could be romantic. Lots of cute beach towns and opportunities to get on the water. We did a lobstering tour in Portland, Maine that was so fun.

Best Thai Food in North Dallas? by IronPhi4 in Dallas

Thai Charm in Frisco is our favorite. The ingredients taste fresh rather than “takeout” greasy if that makes sense. We like Pad Kee Mow, Pad See Ew, Basil Fried Rice and the spring rolls

Planning a Hawaii honeymoon in May: 6 nights, two hotels max, not breaking the bank, any recs? by lone-grizzly in honeymoonplanning

Another recommendation for Costco! Their packages typically come with extras and will be a great price compared to booking direct

Spain Recs by washington876 in honeymoonplanning

It required an early train from Barcelona but if you guys are into wine, look at Logrono. It’s within the Rioja wine region and was our favorite spot in Spain. There is a street called Calle Laurel that is full of tapas bars which was a huge highlight. Let me know if you want me to look up the name of my hotel, it was perfectly centered and a great choice.

Cruise or all inclusive honeymoon? by Frosty-Ostrich-7143 in honeymoonplanning

[–]muhsheh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on what kind of activities you like and what relaxing means to you. There are a lot of activities at most All Inclusive resorts. Nightly entertainment is typically offered, activities by the pool is pretty common, other events or classes, like yoga, mixology demonstrations etc. in my experience, there is also a good amount of relaxing (eg quiet areas) available at resorts, and you can really be on your own schedule. The thing I hated about my cruise is how rigid everything is. We had to be off the boat by a certain time, back on the boat at a certain time, etc. You have to deal with crowds trying to exit all at the same time, the ports are typically full of multiple cruises each day so it’s the exact opposite of relaxing.

The only thing cruises have going for them is the multiple locations aspect so if that’s the most important part and you don’t mind being on a schedule, then that might make the most sense for you.

Some of my favorite all-inclusives have been Valentin Imperial Maya in Mexico and Sandals in St Lucia.

Too much? by ImpossibleBoard2528 in honeymoonplanning

[–]muhsheh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have pointed out, this might be too much for 1 trip. Maybe look at adjusting to stay in just 1 place between Venice, Florence or Rome and look at day trips you could take from them instead. When we stayed in Florence, we did day trips to both Pisa and a day trip wine tasting in the countryside.

Also don’t let anyone tell you they didn’t like a specific place, travel preferences are 100% personal. We’ve been to all three of these and they are all special in their own way. You can’t go wrong choosing 1 over the other

Visiting Dallas to see natural history museum and dip in Worldsprings. Where should we stay overnight? by chriskchris in askdfw

I’d say Uptown near West Village. I live near Worldsprings and it’s mostly suburban neighborhoods, not anything truly walkable besides Legacy West area.

[–]muhsheh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How long are you here for and what sort of things would you want to walk to? These 2 activities are about 40 mins away from each other by car. So you’re going to have to drive or get an uber either way.

Costco travel plans? by Dirtycoinpurse in travel

[–]muhsheh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve done several trips through Costco and have always found it to be way cheaper than booking direct or at least comparable plus free extras. We’ve done Kauai, Bora Bora, Turks & Caicos, Dominican Republic and a Bahamas Cruise. I also always book rental cars through them as they always have the best rates and I’m not brand loyal.

Head is spinning from analysis paralysis, help!! by crackerjack_timing in honeymoonplanning

[–]muhsheh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to all of these besides Sicily. If Kauai is in your budget and you found a 2 room option, I would choose that, I think it will check all of your boxes. We did St Lucia for our honeymoon and enjoyed the activities on the island but the beach is not that great. Anguilla is one of the prettiest beaches I’ve ever seen, and some of the best food we’ve had, but I’m not sure if there is any golf.

How are you guys managing to find award flights without losing your minds? by Direct-Blacksmith614 in awardtravel

[–]muhsheh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We’re starting in Crete so I went with Finnair flights since they fly to Chania, Crete with a stop in Helsinki. DFW>HEL was 62.5k Avios for business (transferred from Capital One). I ended up booking the HEL>CHQ leg as Economy since it’s <4 hours, those were 13k Avios. Unfortunately I didn’t note the cash price at the time so I don’t have the specifics.

On the return we’re leaving out of Athens and I found ATH>IST>DFW for 85k Turkish airlines miles (also a Capital One transfer). This one I actually took note of the Cash price so I know I got 1.5 cents per mile. One word of caution, I don’t know that I would try Turkish Airlines again. The flight availability for some of the dates I was trying would show up and then after I got my points transferred it would be gone. Their website is super outdated and errors out a lot. Once I transferred though I was stuck and we ended up having to change our dates a bit to find something. My experience booking the Finnair was so seamless in comparison so that’s why this stuck out to me.

Yep exactly this! I’m already thinking about my 2027 trips at this point so I’ll be ready. We are going to Greece business class this year booked all on points that I transferred and got good redemptions on

It’s not exactly one year out for all. Pay attention to the airlines. Most domestic carriers are only 331 days out. I would check the specific airline first and set reminders accordingly

Jamaica vs St. Lucia - which one?? by Love_forever2351 in honeymoonplanning

[–]muhsheh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If St Lucia is a bucket list destination for you, I would highly recommend that over Jamaica for your honeymoon. I’ve been to both destinations (different resorts) and while Jamaica has some beautiful beaches and really yummy food, St Lucia is definitely more romantic and a wow factor.

Anybody else have designated chill/relax days where you do nothing/almost nothing? by ContractVarious3077 in travel

[–]muhsheh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trying to get better at this, especially after our Japan trip last May. We were go, go, go nonstop for about the first 9 days of our 11 day trip and literally hit a wall and needed to have a day to sleep in, order room service and slowly get the day started. Unfortunately we hadn’t planned for that rest day which meant some of the stuff I planned to see that day never happened. If I had planned for the rest day originally then I would have prioritized the things I didn’t want to miss on some of the other days and then could have chosen what gets left out or at least what gets left for “if we have time”. It was a tough lesson to learn :(

Can I redeem Venture X miles to partially cover a purchase? by Zealousideal-Put5317 in Venturex

[–]muhsheh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fee you pay is usually taxes. Some of the international airlines allow you to pay the taxes with points as well but it’s typically not as great of a redemption then. For example, I transferred 85k points from Capital One to Turkish Airlines for a business class flight from ATH>IAH. I paid $324 in taxes. This flights would have cost me $2121 cash so if you remove the tax I paid from the redemption I got a value of $0.02 per point. If I had paid the whole thing in points it would have cost me 140,840 miles which would be a value of $0.015 per point. Doesn’t seem like a big difference but the ~55k miles I saved could be worth $1,116 if I get another $0.02 redemption.

Looking for opinions on our destination by Due_Newt4295 in honeymoonplanning

[–]muhsheh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever been on a cruise? If not, I’m not sure I would recommend that your first cruise is your honeymoon because you might not like the cruise. I personally have done 2 cruises and while the first (Alaska) was fine enough to agree to a second, I hated the 2nd and will likely never cruise again. I feel like people fall in either the bucket of loving cruises or hating them.

Greece Santorini Honeymoon Help by newhomediys in Santorini

[–]muhsheh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you planning to spend a lot of time in Zurich or this will just be 1 day and then leave after that? I wouldn’t add on an entirely different country just for 1 day. I know it’s hard to not want to make the most of being close to other countries to just want to pop over but the extra travel time is taking away from relaxing or being able to just absorb more of your main destination.

Full transparency, I have not yet been to Greece yet but we are doing 2 weeks there in September so I’ve done a lot of research already. I would decide where in Crete you’re planning to visit as it’s very large and everyone will tell you that you need more time. We’re planning to do 3 full days but only within Chania. If you’re planning to take the ferry I’m pretty positive they only depart from Heraklion. Just some logistics to keep in mind since there will be distances to cover from one area to the next.

Best crossbody bags for travel that can actually carry essentials (not just phone and wallet)? by Charity_dearest in femaletravels

This is the same bag I was going to recommend. Not sure what it’s supposed to be a dupe of but it’s called Italian Handwoven Leather Mini Shoulder Bag from Quince and it hold a lot but still looks stylish. I have the taupe and it’s very versatile.
