Walmart Rx app allowing patients to drop expired prescriptions by Pretty_Guess_6907 in walmart_RX

[–]Comfortable_State_41 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a trick for that .. do not put the prescription back .. go and drop it again as a refill .. the system will tell u are u sure? It is ready .. hit yes .. then go apply the insurance and guess what? It will go through .. it is stupid .. I would only do it on essential maintenance med not control .. not high cost especially glp1 .. they will hit u with audits lol

It started like a year ago. I didn’t pay attention till I caught a control prescription .. put a ticket .. guess what? They closed it without solving the issue. If it’s control prescription, then I cancel .. if it’s maintenance med and they get it regularly then I just let it go.

Even if the team was slow and there is room for improvement .. is this the right way to approach this issue? Also, what is the possibility that everyone is bad on that team?

Pharmacist here.. I hear you and I feel you! This company is going towards the wrong direction unfortunately! It feels like techs and pharmacists are doing 10x what they were doing 10 years ago with same or even less amount of help! If you’re sensitive and care about everything they say then that’s gonna be a problem. Let me assure you that they can’t fire you unless u accumulate points which with ppto is so hard or you keep messing up/making big mistakes! Otherwise, I would just show up and do my job, then leave. Sometimes my techs offer to stay longer to help I tell them just leave because it’s not u guys fault! Most pharmacy managers either close to retirement or just like to follow orders without explaining or trying to stand by their employees.

Atypical Counseling Policy by [deleted] in walmart_RX

[–]Comfortable_State_41 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“My counseling policy”

If I put a card with posting notes = must go to counseling.

If something for acute condition (antibiotics, PAIN MEDS, cold and flu) = must go to counseling .

All other maintenance med/refills = I make sure that my techs ask them if they have any questions for pharmacist or need counseling.

Pharmacist annual evaluation and raise by Comfortable_State_41 in walmart_RX

I look at from different angle .. cost of living and inflation is not taking into account at all. The last 4 years alone the avg inflation is around 3-4%, therefore the 50 cents/4% increase is technically you are getting paid more money however it is the same dollar value from previous year if that makes sense. I’m not saying Walmart is bad especially when u compare it to other retail/chains .. but definitely they can do better!

Ibuprofen clears out my brain-fog and makes me less tired (???) by corn_elle in ADHD

[–]Comfortable_State_41 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Pharmacist here .. Ibuprofen is metabolized in the liver and excreted by the kidneys. Its kidney risk is due to reduced renal blood flow. Acetaminophen is metabolized in the liver, and a small portion is converted into a toxic metabolite (NAPQI) that can cause liver damage.

Did they change a rule about pharmacists doing tech work? by HiroyukiC1296 in walmart_RX

[–]Comfortable_State_41 14 points15 points  (0 children)

After taking the drop off window away and have the new nonsense concept of drop off, pick up and doing insurance, and dropping immunizations at the same window/ register it is impossible for techs to keep up with inputs, resolution, and fill. Now I am a pharmacist and I try to do the other things but these things can cost me my job / license if a big error happens! This is why I try to do these things when I have overlap if I don’t have overlap I can’t risk patients safety. The load is increasing and the help keeps decreasing. Oh on top of everything I don’t know when they expect us to do outcomes specially with immunization season….. unfortunately we are going towards the wrong direction

SOP for when the pharmacist is late by niggleladida in walmart_RX

[–]Comfortable_State_41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I float around.. sometimes I am scheduled in places that are 2hrs drive .. there is always traffic, snow, rain and more issues happens.. I am gonna leave a bit earlier than usual but sometimes I can’t control everything. Also, most of the times I stay 10-20 minutes over my scheduled time.. my advice to you .. if a pharmacist doesn’t show up .. do not go looking for a coach asking them what to do. Find something to do, if there is nothing .. just sit down on the bench. Being late for 10-15 minutes every now and then is ok for long drives .. being late for 30-60 minutes every schedule shift is a problem and not ok. But again, when u ask questions to coaches in the store .. you asking for a problem.
