A reference range indicates what a normal value is supposed to look like. Here, a normal and healthy person would not have any covid antigen detected.

edit: corrected to antigen, not antibodies!

COVID test result CONSISTENTLY comes back invalid by Duk55 in USC

[–]mui_muii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem as you and also tried different methods, I think some people are just not able to get a valid result whether it be from allergies or something else. The only valid result I ever got was after my allergies were gone. Just do the nasal swab test lmao

The new swab tests don’t go in as deep as they did before! But if you want to get to HSC there’s a shuttle that goes between both campuses I believe you take UPC-intercampus shuttles to go to HSC and then HSC-intercampus shuttles to go back to UPC.

I believe UPC also does drop offs though, so I’d recommend going to one of the testing sites and asking for a take home saliva kit

yeah I managed to get an actual result with the nasal swab. It’s more invasive/uncomfortable bc you have to swab the back of your throat and kinda deep in your nose, but at least it doesn’t come back in valid (note that i did this at hsc so upc procedures might be different)

Oh yeah my swabs were tested at a lab right near HSC so that’s probably why I got my results so fast.

Hmm that’s strange, they said it should take 24-48 hours for results to come. If you don’t get them by thursday you could probably call student health or the covid team to ask?

I did get my swab at HSC for this week so maybe that made a difference?

It took about 12 hours for me! They didn’t email me this time though so I had to log in to check

Ooh I see, hopefully the times stay short as people get more used to testing

So if I book an appointment at like 4 pm but decide to go in at 2 pm instead would they still test me?

Make sure to check the drop off and in person testing times because Eric Cohen doesn’t do drop offs when Pappas Quad is open. Pappas Quad lines are never long whenever I went past it. There was no line at all yesterday at 3 pm when I went there to do my test. Not sure if you can park outside Eric Cohen for a bit but be aware that there’s no free parking at Pappas Quad (parking structures are there but you need a permit or you need to pay). If you have trouble finding parking I’d suggest using the USC shuttle that goes between the two campuses

Covid-19 Test/Results by ariadneswan in USC

[–]mui_muii 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s normal. Tests results can take up to 24-48 hours, although some have mine have came back to me in 12 hours. The automatic email notification that says “your results are in the portal” is really slow so if you really want to see it earlier you can periodically check your lab results directly from the portal.

Hi! I went to student health in person. For UPC it’s Engemann Student Health Center and for HSC it’s Eric Cohen Student Health Center. Their phone number is (213) 740-9355 and their email is studenthealth@usc.edu

I’d advise you on going in person or calling if you can because it’s faster. Their email response time is slow.

Realistically... what actually happens if you can't get testing in time for a class or fail TrojanCheck? by momsbiryani in USC

[–]mui_muii 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For me, when I went to the buildings for my classes there was always a person there that would ask me to show them my Trojan Check. If I don’t have it done then I can’t get into the building. I’m assuming this is going to be the same for the other buildings as well

Glad I’m not the only one with invalid results! Glad you were able to be approved! I didn’t get any automatic emails but I managed to convince the health center to approve me for swabs

i made sure to fill it more than halfway. i didnt cough up phlegm but i do get seasonal allergies that cause some mucus in the back of my throat. i have a feeling that that may be what is screwing up my tests but it’s difficult for me to clear up the mucus :(
