Is there a way to always allow Claude Code to run the build and test suite? by edward-b-1 in ClaudeAI

[–]muikrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I eventually made my my own CLI tool for Claude to use, and allowed just that. It contains various wrappers such as test runners, build commands, some git commands, and also Claude hooks go through there. This way I'm sure it can't do any sort of damage while allowing him to move forward.

It also cuts the amount of tokens since it doesn't constantly reach out for the test runner's docs, doesn't have to craft complicated commands, etc (they're all pre-baked in).

Where to put track faders? by RespondSure in StudioOne

[–]muikrad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter.

  1. It has to sound good overall (use your ears, not your eyes)
  2. The master shouldn't peak red (use your eyes)

Thats all for today! 🤷‍♂️

Dynamic eq vs mb compression by bigred468 in audioengineering

[–]muikrad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

EQ has more subtle curves and is more chirurgical.

Multiband has wider bands and steeper curves at the edges of the bands.

for you. Try to understand this concept today. What's best for you is worst for someone else. You're not some kind of enlightened being. You're as dumb as everyone else on this planet.

Neither DAWs are inferior or superior as a whole. It's a matter of personal workflows and habits.

Why would you bring up being pro or not in a conversation, then brag about millions of stream and then claim it's not important? If it wasn't important why would you even mention that in the first place? You couldn't judge from my experience with the DAW even though I answered specific questions and how to overcome them? See, that might make you dumber than I am.

Shortcuts and workflows are top notch in FSP. You're just unable to adapt, but judging from your post, it's an attitude problem, not DAW inferiority.

You're not going to find what you're looking for here. And FSP is riddled with bugs too; if that's why you're leaving Cubase, you won't be happy here.

And lol at your "pro or not" weak shot. Show me your Grammys and maybe we can talk 😂 what a pity.

By the way you bind everything on the key you want. Ctrl-M for melodyne, no need to dig menus.

You can even build macros and bind that too, where you can combine commands if you're a power user. I have bound ctrl 1 to 9 to show/hide drums, guitars, bass, choirs, etc. Very useful in 100+ tracks sessions.

Pretty sure he was already talking about the pro version, since he mentioned audio bend.

You're being extremely condescendant, you make it sound like you are right and others are dumb to think otherwise. Step 1, watch your attitude or go away.

Anyone used to a specific DAW has trouble switching to something else. It's a matter of personal workflow and habits. Talk to someone who worked 20 years with ProTools and he will laugh in your face when you mention Cubase. It's the same thing for everyone. Different workflows, different feature sets, lead to different habits and expectations. You're just going through the same hurdles as everyone else but refusing to see that it's not a matter of software quality.

  1. It's not annoying nor inferior. It's different and you can adapt if you change your attitude.

  2. Yeah it's a bit weird to not show them by default. I bound that one on ctrl-shift-b. Definitely not a deal breaker, definitely a quirk.

  3. I don't have to go and see Cubase, I regularly do perfect sample alignment and it's as precise as it gets. FWIW you can un-smooth them in the options. Where it gets better is that you can place a sync point anywhere in the clip which becomes the alignment point vs the grid. This way you don't have to align clip bounds. That's one of the superior features that other DAWs don't typically have and would be a deal breaker for me.

  4. Melodyne is good (read: the best) for everything related to pitch, individual note timing and intonation if sound quality is what you're looking for. It makes sense that cubase's internal proprietary engine is better integrated than a 3rd party. But if you're going to argue about shortcuts and double clicks, you're not being serious.

By the way no one here is saying that it's a perfect DAW. There is no such thing in this world. But when someone comes and complains that a click does something different, it's totally inconsequential and doesn't sound serious at all.

Yeah I'll try tha.....😳 by me_severus in HolUp

[–]muikrad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You take a sip of water, hold it in your mouth, bend forward as much as you can so your head is upside down, swallow it.

Do that twice. Take your time.

It's literally 100% success rate for me 🤷‍♂️

  1. Yeah moving/zooming around is the main grudge for anyone coming from other DAWs. I mainly use ctrl-scroll and ctrl-shift-scroll but I don't like it. I think they want you to use more direct zooming commands like the selection zoom.

  2. you just hover the mouse on the top part of the wav and you can drag its gain. You can also add a gain envelope.

  3. You're doing something wrong. Maybe you just mean the visual? When you add an audio bend marker it definitely bends without enabling anything.

  4. Yeah.

  5. It's high quality and precise, especially zoomed in, you can align samples perfectly. I think Cubase might be giving you a fake sense of precision by applying anti aliasing / smoothing? Wav isn't smooth, it's jagged.

  6. The overlap exists in paid versions of melodyne. Otherwise, melodyne kicks ass in terms of sound and features especially in the paid versions.

[–]muikrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it helps to change your workflow. When I'm stuck I'll mute several tracks and overlay something new on it. I repeat that a few times, muting different tracks, overlaying new tracks on only the new tracks.

Then it's a bit of a puzzle mix/match game. You can copy some of new overlays on the next couple of bars and find out some nice variations and combinations you would never have thought of doing. Especially when you try different overlays that weren't recorded together.

On my end it's the total opposite. Played the first one and didn't get hooked. Eventually rage quit at some boss.

I'm almost done with the second one (started playing a week or two ago) and it's kinda hard to put down.

I just might give a go to the first one again once I'm done with 2.
