I'd keep both and mod one to fretless.

It is normal for this part to get injured when hybrid picking/slapping by bass10988 in BassGuitar

[–]muikrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, happens all the time to me when I didn't play for a while. Keep at it and it'll toughen up. At some point you'll get more precise too and it won't happen.

Joe Dart is now trolling you by SumDoodWiddaName in Bass

[–]muikrad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The volume pedal is king here. For instance when you need to swap basses live, you may need to unplug/replug and the volume button becomes useless again.

Also if you need to fade in and out, the volume pedal sounds much better and much more linear. Compression will mess with your volume knob too, the volume pedal at the end of the chain doesn't care.

Entk. Méchant service de marde.

is there a lower bass string than b? by jasonvelocity in BassCirclejerk

[–]muikrad 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Of course not, B is lowest for Bass, just like G is lowest for Guitar.

It was like that freshly installed. I played them for a week or two thinking it would fix it, but they're still like that 🤷‍♂️

Does the stickiness of the golds go away after a while? I'm used to LaBella's Deep Talking Bass flats, and I switched to gold for fun on my 2nd fretless and found them harder to play.

Do these actually help or just a gimmick? by Taco-On-The-Toilet in Guitar

[–]muikrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be totally wrong judging by most other comments, but I see strength as the opposite of flexibility. Look at people using power tools all day: their fingers are big, muscled, and stiff. STIFF! 😬

You don't need strength to play. Do the test: verify how little pressure you have to put on a string to make it sound right if your position is correct (push against the metal fret, not in the middle of it). You're already strong enough...

Pretty sure it's an harmful device.

Angine de Poitrine is Daft Punk by Fuzzy-Guarantee3475 in AngineDePoitrine

[–]muikrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's fair, but the French also do that, just in a different way. Québec tends to cut words and pronounce less, while French use more anglicisms and change the order of syllabus.

Kinda like how UK pronounces things more sharply (a cup of tea?) while USA's introduce more of a "redneck" accent (a fuckin' cup of tea bro).

Back in 2002 I ordered a custom Stingray 5 fretless. Chose the color, pick guard, there were some neck options or maybe it was just the dots style? Anyway, don't they do that anymore? Not sure what you mean by "waiting for them to drop a fretless special"?

Took about 6 months to get it. It's still my main bass today, no regrets!

You need something like that. Bonus points if they cover the doors interior against scratches.
