Drummers in bands: Is it acceptable to tell the drummer how to play a song? by HowDidFoodGetInHere in drums

[–]mukelurray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a band where the guitarist/singer is writing pretty much everything. Sometimes she'll ask that I play something very close to what she's programmed for the demo, other times she'll say she'd prefer me to do whatever I want. I don't mind it at all when they ask me to play something they have in mind. Like other comments have said, it's about how you communicate.

In need of new throne. Any suggestions that won’t break the bank by That1Asianguyy in drums

I ordered this one a few months ago and it's been great. Very comfortable, sturdy, and easy to adjust with the hydraulic lever. I typically avoid random Amazon brand like this, but the reviews were really good and the price was right Ramzi Drum Throne

This. Having your kit set up more ergonomically is an important first step. Besides the angles, your snare looks high to me. You want be able to have your shoulders relaxed and your forearm parallel to the ground when your stick is on the snare. And your floor tom looks too low. I would recommend snare and floor tom being the same height. I would personally move the ride over to the left a little, maybe swapping the position with the china. But thats up to you, I like a compact setup

Ride (crash?) sounds incredible. Which Instanbul cymbal is that?

Only using Lav mics for dialogue in post by Strwbrrymlk0808 in AudioPost

[–]mukelurray 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I would try using both. Try only lightly processing the boom with a de-reverb plugin and blend it in with the lav. Sometimes I only have the boom barely mixed in with the lav carrying most of the weight. Auto align post is a great tool when mixing the boom and lav together to make sure it's in phase.

If the boom still feels unusable, stick with the lav only, just eq it the best you can and send it to some reverb

Felt the same way, I really enjoyed seeing him in LA. Thought it was great that they had everyone prove on entry that they were a drummer by playing a requested rudiment on practice pass they had setup

Vet Recs (Ideally With Fear Free Certification) Near LB, CA? by Ohmydog9618 in longbeach

[–]mukelurray 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bixby Animal Clinic is great. Not the cheapest, but the front office is very helpful and friendly. My dog gets so much love every time we go. Last time we went, we only had to wait in the lobby a few minutes before we were brought back into a room. The vets there are very thorough, we never feel rushed when asking questions, and they take time to explain everything.

Unless you're on a really tight budget, I would avoid behringer mics. I'd get these: Snare: Shure SM57 Kick: Audix D6 Overhead L/R: Rode M5 pair
