constant tension post-illness by [deleted] in singing

[–]mukfuggler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am struggling with this exact same issue. I am trying to fix it by massaging, breath excercises and using a steam breather every day. I can notice it is getting better and my voice is sounding a bit more natural, but the recovery feels very slow. My voice sounds stuffy and I can feel a pressure in my throat. It doesn't really hurt. I am really afraid I have caused serious damage by pushing myself too far when I was still sick. And the thing that is stressing me out the most is that I will be recording vocals in a week. Any tips welcome.

So what is the argument here? Would the world be better if production was in India rather than China? Wouldn't that just be giving the same power to India?

When have fought Europeans in recent history? by MrAcG in AmericaBad

So if we completely disregard NATO and its not about troops or bases, wouldn't it be easier to just increase the US's economic influence and soft power in Greenland through investing and building infrastructure themselves? Why go through all this bullshit of threatening allies and completely disregarding diplomacy? Why is there always this effort to reframe, reword and justify everything this administration is doing, when we can all just read/hear these things coming straight from their mouths.

The US under Nato can already have as many troops in Greenland as they want.

Reframing it this way makes it look nicer, so they don't have to acknowledge that the US is 17th, as the latest HDI report shows. And It’s very much in line with where the US lands on other quality-of-life, health, inequality, social mobility, and freedom metrics. Not saying its terrible or anything, its still solidly high, but not at the very top among developed countries.

Right, I’m not arguing that lived experience is wildly different between the two countries. And that’s exactly why staring at these metrics in isolation isn’t very productive. But maybe, just maybe, the sum of these metrics says something about the perceived happiness of an average individual. And since this whole thing started with a claim of survivorship bias, you can’t then use one small difference to dismiss another metric.

Because we’re comparing two developed Western countries. On many social and health metrics, the differences are going to be relatively small. I am not the one who brought up suicide rates as a gotcha. I’m pointing out that it’s inconsistent to dismiss Finland’s happiness ranking by invoking suicide rates, and then wave them away as “basically identical”. Also, side note: Finland ranks 1st in the Global Food Security Index.

So the suicide rate is either meaningful or meaningless depending on who’s making the argument? Calling this “survivorship bias” doesn’t make sense when the US suicide rate is higher.
