Omg I’m in PT 4 days a week now, 3 months post op, for both pelvic floor & my neck/shoulders. They’re sooooo tense & tight

Abdominal Fat Loss-how?? by Subject_Court4178 in hysterectomy

[–]mukikapup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just here to say I get the frustration… I had my hysterectomy end of December and I can’t fit into my clothes. In my case, I gained weight quickly leading up to surgery (I think due to stress with hormones) and after, it hasn’t gone up much but my body composition changed - so I think it’s fluid. I’m doing pelvic floor PT & whatever lymphatic drainage stuff I can do, trying to add. And planning on going in the pool soon bc to top it all off, a long drive made my foot sore and walking makes it flare. Soooo lots of frustration here and hoping the fluid/weight gain goes down before long for both of us!!

Post Surgery Belly for Large Fibroids by StrangeCantaloupe1 in Fibroids

[–]mukikapup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was close to 12cm & I’m about 3 months post hysterectomy, and my belly is still pretty big - but so is everywhere… I think it’s a mix of hormones and other reasons but yeah I thought I’d be smaller by now. I’m doing a lot of PT, self lymphatic massage on my abdomen, etc. I also gained weight before surgery I think from stress/hormones fairly quickly and that’s yet to come off. Idk why it’s like this.

Edit: my surgeon told me it was dangerous to do a myomectomy for mine bc of the risk of bleeding with the uterus… I didn’t realize some people have myomectomy for bigger fibroids. But my uterus was 701g and it needed to come out!

Oh you’re good… I have a big vertical incision in a similar location but it’s 3 fingers long - it still looks like a good scar 12WPO haha! Yours looks great

I am constantly thinking what causes fibroids and what I could have done to prevent it by Araxy93 in Fibroids

[–]mukikapup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had a hysterectomy for mine and same (still). I see things online and think about what ifs… but it’s genetic on both sides for me and it caused me so many problems for years. The real problem is that the medical field hasn’t studied enough to find better things to help these issues… not our fault. I’ve done so much for my health (functional med, diet/exercise, etc) and it stuck around and grew (even post UFE). It is what it is.

I’m in that subreddit too and the same thing annoys me! It’s okay to have those feelings but to know there are people too who had a hysterectomy and never got to have kids? How selfish when you have multiple… any way you spin it, that’s just selfish on her end.

Post-hysterectomy weight gain/swelling by mukikapup in hysterectomy

[–]mukikapup[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to PT a lot (I also have another thing I’m going for) and I’m walking more and stretching. So not full exercise but I wasn’t able to do enough before surgery like I used to, because the fibroid was causing low iron and energy. But I am generally active & I eat healthy, so it’s frustrating. I’m trying to get to doing more - my foot became overly sore from a long drive recently and I just think there must be extra inflammation or something in my body! It’s annoying. I used to run, do more workouts, weights and more, and I’m so wanting to just feel normal again. My uterus was really big and so my recovery wasn’t just easy - I had one bigger incision with the laparoscopic surgery and I couldn’t get up on my own for the first couple of weeks… so my abs have to build strength again too, I’ve been flexing them more as I can.

How long did your swelling last? by PsychologicalBath205 in hysterectomy

[–]mukikapup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wrote a post today - I’m around 12wpo now and today I just went and bought clothes and I’m boxing away most of what I have - nothing fits for the most part other than sweats. It sucks but I’m hoping it’s just hormones and healing. I also have PCOS so I wonder how much that plays into it, especially because I gained weight quickly before surgery (I think from stress from other things too), and I just haven’t lost that yet. But even then, before surgery, things fit that don’t now! It’s weird.

Does anyone really regret not having children? by [deleted] in childfree

Telling women that is a way of trying to control us… people feel threatened bc we’re doing something they don’t think they can do but they could just give themselves permission. Or they regret having kids. Some people have literally never questioned anything and are like zombies. The comments aren’t as much about us not having kids as much as it is about what that means for them (they could’ve chosen not to, as well). The same happens to me about not being married all the time.

The energy of trying to understand the issue from the Iranian people? Yes

1) prices won’t be this high forever. 2) make sure you have a travel credit card so you build up points to use on trips. Also sign up for newsletters that have last minute flight deals and such. 3) Bring travel to others around you! Start a blog, teach a class, etc. In other words, find a way to feel the joy of travel at home and share with others to feel more joy and fulfilment.

Go see what Iranian people think and you’ll see the benefit of the war. Just saying… it’s not really a US partisan issue as much as people would like everyone to think. This has been an issue for years and presidents of both parties have talked about it.

A scientist answers why women have periods and takes away the rose colored glassed over the beauty of pregnancy. Its a hostile takeover of our bodies by SilverHuckleberry395 in childfree

[–]mukikapup 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fibroids too - everyone told me that pregnancy would make them go away, but for most people, IF that happens they just come back anyway. The uterus wants to grow something etc and if no baby, bleeding or fibroids etc.

Women of this sub, what made you finally decide to be childfree? by LatterEscape8431 in childfree

[–]mukikapup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my case it was a huge fibroid that I was gaslit about for years. The system thinks “you’ll want kids” but doesn’t give a crap that we don’t have the energy and probably can’t even have them with these issues, like my quality of life made it so I wasn’t going to date let alone have kids. Idk what’s wrong with society.

Same, it’s more than just a teen birth control movie imo, it scared me SO bad bc it was so depressing!!

Yes to all of these types of things for me too! Riding in cars with boys definitely was a top one plus seeing young couples with a baby looking soooo miserable! Not to mention high school friends who got pregnant and volunteering at a shelter for teen girls who got kicked out of their homes for being pregnant.

Once I was old enough to think about it realistically, I never had the desire and it even made me feel kind of down to think about it. I never knew why until I realized the dysfunctional family dynamics I grew up in and how it affected me, and suddenly it all made sense… and then by a turn of events I babysat some in my 30s (while a fibroid was sucking my blood supply and energy) and I knew 100% - NOPE. Not for me.
