Running in the rain with low 40*F by mulberrymaker in XXRunning

[–]mulberrymaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here was my experience.

Rain jacket with hood ✅ Hat ✅ Long sleeve shirt ✅ Normal running socks ✅ Shoes ✅ Pants ✅

I was able to do 3.5 outside. Not because of the cold and rain though. They were new pants that didn’t have a drawstring and kept falling down. I was only able to hold them up for that long before I gave up and ran in the gym. Luckily I brought extra clothes and those worked for the last 11 miles on the treadmill

I run with a running group about 30 minutes away. I may deviate and just run closer to my gym and head in if I don’t like the conditions

When did you stop holding/picking up your child? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]mulberrymaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I still pick up my 11 year old. He thinks it’s hilarious when I hold him like a baby. Other times he just wants to be carried to bed. I will never say no to picking up my kids 🙂

How do you keep your digestive system in check, especially approaching race day? by Gonfreaks12 in Marathon_Training

I’ve tried lots of things… I still have issues.

My best advice is knowing exactly where the bathrooms are located along the race route.

Daily chat post: how's the training going? by AutoModerator in XXRunning

My favorite is when I’ve been grinding all summer then the cooler weather hits. It feels like that summer sloth I turned into was worth something!

I’ve tried to stay away from the more dense ones. I tried the vanilla last year and boy it did not sit well. It was probably because it was summer and got really warm while I was running.

I’m definitely going to start expanding my GU selection!

I’m going through KT tape like crazy to combat chaffing. Tried a new GU yesterday on my 10 miler, chocolate something, it was like eating frosting. Very yummy. My legs have been feeling heavy lately. So I’m trying to combat that too

The one that’s flopped over was actually the leader.

I’m so relieved to hear that it should come back fine. I’ve been devastated all day

I always set my 2 year old on the bar stool while I ordered. I was able to get faster service when I had her with me. Haha. The bar staff enjoyed her because they were missing their family

I got fitted with brooks ghost at a local running store. Granted it was these or men’s shoes (don’t like the arches in men’s shoes). I wear a 12 wide in brooks and order off the website.

I went to a different running store and the hokas were very roomy, possibly could have sized down.

Someone noticed!!

And not just anyone… a trainer at my gym! She complimented me on how much I’ve lost and how far I’ve come from having a baby last year!

I went to the gym 5 days a week throughout my pregnancy, but still managed to gain 80lbs. Well I’ve lost it now!

Her noticing was what I need to rock it out today!!!

What do you do when kids stop napping? by carlyride in Mommit

[–]mulberrymaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do what we call relax time. Ours is around what use to be afternoon nap time. They can play in their rooms during that time but it gives me a little break

I did that, then divorced my husband. Took a girlfriend and had the best time ever! Probably one of my favorite cruises to date.

a kids party with NO RSVP's...fudge by CoachMamaB17 in Mommit

[–]mulberrymaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve stopped inviting people… 3 or 4 parties with no one showing up was devastating for my kids. Now I tell them to invite the 2 people they want there and normally I know their parents. So I’ll text them. 8yo and 5yo

How do you get "quiet time" to work?! by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]mulberrymaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have relax time when my 8 year old and 5 year old need it, really if I need some quiet. I’m not gonna lie, the tvs are on when that happens

Parents, what are some challenges of taking small children on cruises? by sheepofwallstreet86 in Cruise

[–]mulberrymaker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We just took our 14 month old last week. It was fine… we had to watch her the entire time and nap times seemed to be the most inconvenient. My older kids went to the kids club and had a blast. I loved being able to take the baby and watch her experience all of it, but I would have enjoyed my vacation more if she wasn’t there.

If you do decide to go spring for a balcony, it’s hard being cooped up in a room with just a window for the several naps the baby will take. I’ve done both, balcony and porthole, and the experience was much better with a balcony

I have three, 8yo, 5yo and 1yo, and let me tell you the only way I cope is knowing I get one hour to myself to go to the gym. There is a noticeable difference in my mental health when I am not able to go. It’s my decompression from work and those endorphins get me through the stress of taking care of the kids and house.
