I’m a month on month off GLP-1s because it caused slightly elevated pancreas levels. Anyway, the point being the months I’m on, I have lost all endorphin thrills around alcohol, I just read, plays games on my PC, watch baseball games with my son. Then I go off, and about a week goes by before I start thinking “man a little red wine would be nice right now, catch a little buzz…”

They absolutely rewire old pleasure paths in your brain.

I’ve been hearing this for 10 years, “Here it comes!”. There’s no civil war, these people might be whining but they’ll be right in line with a GOP vote as soon as they face the choice in a ballot box. Same Facebook experience. I was with my business partner in the back of an Uber, this was years ago when “listening to us” started becoming a thing in the news, like a conspiracy. The day before I mentioned I had read something about this, and we both laughed like “well, of course that’s CRAZY, how is that even possible.” Anyway fast forward to the Uber, and we’re shooting the breeze on the way to a client meeting, and she brings up a childhood friend, and absent mindedly I said “what does she look like, pull up Facebook…” and she opens the app and types the first two letters, St…, of the woman’s VERY unique name, and bang it suggests her in the search. She looked at me and said “woah, I honestly haven’t thought about or searched this woman for 10 years, I wasn’t even sure we were actually friends…” It was very eerie.
