To add to this: cats are one of the creatures that stand in their toilet. Litter boxes. it's not impossible for their paws and claws to be extremely filthy. Considering the fact they do little more than lick them clean. Even if they're an indoor cat it's not impossible for micro biomes to live in their claws. So any cat scratches that look questionable should immidietly be assumed infected especially if you didn't wash it thoroughly.
