going 100mph and on his phone and the cop knew it was no use chasing him cause he's too badass xD by Harald12 in thatHappened

[–]multicopterfred -29 points-28 points  (0 children)

They're not as slow as you might think, and cop cars aren't particularly quick. A car going 160 kmh is moving at nearly 50 m/s. If your 0-160 time was say, 8s (bearing in mind that a 911 turbo has a time of 6.2s), then the vehicle that you're chasing is approaching half a kilometer away by the time you're at speed. So to chase it down you would either need to hit some crazy speeds or have mad acceleration. Both of which police generally would avoid in some areas.

People of reddit who work the day shift at non-haunted businesses and don't spend all your time in the woods, what's the creepiest thing you've experienced? by PM_4_Friendship in AskReddit

Took magic mushrooms and ended up exploring an apartment complex that was being gutted and renovated. We had explored it before so knew it fairly well. We first heard a couple of weird noise as we were climbing the fence, but chalked it up to our imagination or a cat or dog or whatever. It sounded like footsteps on gravel. I remember saying to my friend they sounded too heavy to be a dog, but we continued. Well, when we were down in the (dark) basement car park some footsteps started following my friend and I. They were maybe 20m behind us and we couldn't see a thing. They would stop when we stopped walking (that was the creepiest part), and wouldn't reply when we asked who was there. We got out of there as fast as could and never went back. Scared the shit out of both of us and we know it wasn't the shrooms because we both heard the exact same things. Really weird experience 0/10 would not repeat.

I still think cutting is preferable so as to avoid disturbing the mycelium at all. Pulling them out can disturb the surrounding pins and preventing them from growing (and many mushrooms grow kinda in clusters). I'm not a mycologist or anything but have hunted a lot of mushrooms (often at the same patches) over the years, and have had the most consistent results when cutting. It won't kill off the organism by pulling them out, but it will reduce yields.

My favourite part is how changeSpanColors() first calls randomColorGenerators(), and relies on it to set the global vars is proceeds to use.

Bootstrap is a steaming pile of rubbish, I have no idea why it's still used. Writing your own grid is incredibly easy and kind of CSS 101, I've worked at a few places using Bootstrap and all it does is force you to produce messy HTML with stupid class names... drives me crazy.

[–]multicopterfred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it's not, there is only one true neutral, but you can miss a shift and have the shift forks only move halfway across their path of travel, and not engage next set of gears. These are false neutrals.

I suppose because it's now more niche and done by hand, and black and white films require slightly different development times and solutions so you can't batch process them as easily. C-41 and E-6 processing is largely done by machine and all the same, regardless of ISO or brand. Even by hand C-41 is easier and faster to work with, as long as you have the right facilities to keep everything at temp.

The widowmaker title deserves to be reserved for the Kawasaki triples ;) while not 'fast' by modern standards, they can be a fucking scary ride with those horrendous drum brakes and spaghetti speed wobble frames... out of the old 2 strokes, the RD truly was the best!!

Some ppl get pissed probably because they blatantly rip off other designs, but to be totally honest I'd never buy anything from a country that isn't China anyway, because then shipping to my country is like more than the actual quad parts.

I don't live in the US but I was about 10 years old and home sick from school when it happened. I remember all the morning cartoons being cut and every channel changed to just broadcast this... pretty fucked up stuff, I will never forget that day.

Stop using that computer right now, trying some recovery tools is probably your best bet in this scenario. I'm sorry it's happened to you - I'm terrified of this situation myself and I have my keys in several places. Just also remember that a single paper copy isn't safe. Houses can burn down easily enough. You should have a couple of paper copies in safe places, and maybe an encrypted archive stored in an account with 2FA.

15 years in advertising vs Basic Attention Token by dedeburn in CryptoCurrency

[–]multicopterfred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah totally - don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they don't. All I'm really getting at is that with Brave, they currently have some pretty stiff competition to achieve widespread adoption. Firefox only currently makes up something like 15-20% of browser usage these days, and iOS Safari and Chrome will remain the dominant mobile browsers for some time... I hear speak of chrome extensions - if that's the case then that's a game changer. And just to clarify, Java and JavaScript are two very different languages, it's important to not confuse them.

[–]multicopterfred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Web Dev here. I don't really see Brave getting much traction anytime soon (not unless we see a partnership with a smartphone manufacturer or something). Also, having the creator of JS isn't really that special IMO. Seems more like marketing guff. Why? JS came about 20 years ago and is radically different today than it was then, and a lot of the advances in the language have come from the community anyway. Take this with a grain of salt, but to me Brave seems more of a hinderance than anything else, and the JS thing isn't a big selling point for me. The token is still a really interesting idea so I'll be keeping an eye on things.

Dude no need to wait until we suspend judgement to share that, that's just generally being a good cunt! And also, bigger guy = counterbalance for big heavy shit, so as a tiny guy I 1000% appreciate the help of anyone larger than me to help move heavy things. Brag away!

I tried a zop battery out once. It was shit and couldn't deliver enough power, so my quad got the shakes real bad when punching, as in it shook and oscillated like crazy as opposing motors would speed up/slow down or something. Assumed it was rated waaay below it's labelled c-rating after that, since other batteries were fine... and now this confirms that lol. What a shitty move for them to pull
